Question about nailed and glued butt joints

I see those pocket screw jigs advertised all the time on infomercials and wondered if they work as well as they say, from what I am reading here it appears they do, they seem like a great idea.

MDF is tricky stuff to deal with. Also Bad news to inhale dust from.
Edges Can and Do shell like thick Glass does upon minor impact.
Glue doesn't penetrate very deeply into MDF.. as it's fine sawdust in a Urea-Formaldaehyde glue matrix.
Best is to use a square sections of Real wood as internal corner backings.

Is good practice to not over clamp a glued joint, as this can lead to glue starvation.
