Question about PIONEER Fluroscan Displays

Are those blue displays VF? And eventually will they wear out? I have a PIONEER SX-3900 and don't use it much because I worry about wearing out the display. Can these be replaced? Are any still made/in stock?

Vacuum fluorescent? Yes.

Wear out? Yes.

Made anymore? No.

Use it until you lose it? Definitely.

Should be good for a nice long time, unless you lose vacuum for some reason. Blue is definitely longer lived than green.

The flourosan element actually emits white light and the blue lens between the tube and the viewer is blue. The same tube can render several colors depending on the desired viewed color.

The least you can do is use the lower light setting on that receiver. I have an SX-3900 hooked up to some large Advents and I always keep the display intensity on the lower setting, assuming that burning less brightly will extend the life of those lights? It's a nice receiver and one you can still get for a LOT LESS COIN than it's predecessor, SX-1050/1080.

Yeah I always keep the brightness to low when I'm using my SX-3900. If it were ever to go out, Would it be possible to get another display or have one made?

That is not true of all of them.

Sure you can have one made, for about $50,000 if you're lucky.

There are enough junk units around you shouldn't have to do that. In fact I have a set of them out in the boneyard.

i guess one could be made at an unknown cost . if someone has the machine in running order that originally made them and you found them all the better .
