Rare Albums

I have three spoken word albums by Harlan Ellison. Two are hand numbered and signed by the author. They were rare when they were issued. I don't know how rare they are now.

I have one that's signed also. I can't remember the title so I'll have to dig it out.

Flipping through thousands of dreck daily creates the instant recognition of something unique (ok, rare). I don't necessarily grab these but I have recently found Chrysalis/Definition on UA that is quite nice and this one pictured below fascinated me, it's a picture disk.

My attempts to find info on this one have turned up nothing, never have spun it. But it looks marvelous.

I've found a few of the Acid Archive type albums, sure they're rare-but not necessarily every day listening. Rare is a fickle breed. I'm a sucker for the private pressings by local bands and such, it's a kick to listen to these.

7 inch picture discs that were actually used for admission to their industry debut @ the Roxy in Hollywood. The record has various songs from their first album.

I have stuff that is "hard to find", but with ebay and amazon, they don't seem "rare".

I do have things that are probably "rare" but I doubt that they have any value, because no one would want them.

Like a "1969 Valley City State College Singers recorded in Fargo North Dakota" sort of thing....:lmao:

I also found some puke green 10" Indie kind of thing only handed out in person at one of their garage shows....Punk Rock meets Grunge.

Features the first ever recorded appearance of John Bon Jovi (Credited as John Bongiovi... I guess he didn't want the word gettin' out ).

Dark Shadows
Private (1971)

Now there are 1,000s of reissues (band official & euro-boots) of the material.

The Varese album was the very first record Frank Zappa purchased. He was 15 and he nearly peed his pants (sic!) when he got it.

I have an unopened, still in original cellophane with the Record World green sticker on it of Sgt. Peppers.

I also have an original copy, in mint condition, of the Rolling Stones' Their Satanic Majesties Request, London pressing in Stereo with the 3D holigram on the cover.

Although not uber rare, I doubt many folks have this one. I have two copies but the lp is crap on one and cover on the other. Image is borrowed.
