"The jazz world lost one of its greatest drummers Wednesday with the passing of Rashied Ali"
Yes, Indeed.
I was just listening to Stellar Regions this morning while getting ready for work. Rashid's multi-directional drumming managed to transcend our limited understanding of drummer as linear timekeeper. Trying to get your head around what he was doing is a great way to start anyones day.
