In most cases, it is far too simple a task to pay for a tech to do it, imo. A little soldering - a noob can do it, and probably make a neater job of it than I do, if his hands are steady. If it looks somewhat sloppy, it is just going back in a cabinet out of sight anyway, for most speakers. Many AKers would be happy to help out, if nearby.

Yep, it's not brain surgery. The actual soldering skills can be learned watching YouTube videos. Any questions about parts selection can be answered here. Still, having someone experienced assist a first timer can make it all go more quickly. And then have a Molson and listen to some tunes!

If you do diy, do one at a time. Make certain both are identical before you begin. Any confusion about what connects where can be solved by looking at the other if you do one at a time.

Before you start, take lots of close up photos of the original, unmodified crossovers. It helps eliminate any confusion during the process.

Just because they are going back inside is no reason not to make them into works of art.

Very nice. My shaky hands and oafish soldering skills still result in good sound, though.
