Recapping the 1060 recaps

Yeah the 1060 thumps now and it does bother me a bit, but not too bad. Especially when the main speaker button is engaged as you said. I'll try the various resistors across the terminals.

Powering up the amp with the speakers de-selected will result in the worst possible thump. When you turn the unit on, the speakers should be selected. This is the best you can do unless you tie the output of the amp to ground with the power resistor. And as I stated, you probably can't eliminate the thump, but should be able to lessen it a noticable bit.

FYI The 80mm length of the Mallory ripple cap (50mm x 80mm) is the MAX length that will fit. It is tight between the chassis and the cover. Perfect fit though, and the screw terminals are nice. Thanks Echo.

Or
you can buy 6800uF / 80V, KG Series, Gold Tune, 35mmD x 50mmH capacitor (part number NICHICON-73628) and 35mm Zinc Plated Capacitor Clamp, (1 3/8") (part number - CLAMPS-58847)

It will allow you to have 30mm space (instead of couple millimeters) between the capacitor top and case cover.
