Reed relay test. Yamaha C-4 preamp.

Can a reed relay be tested in situ?
If so, how does one do this?
The reed relay in question is a RL6442 - H132 (location RY301) in a Yamaha C4 preamp.

Reed relays are very, very reliable.

Cheers Ivan, will bear this in mind and appreciate the advice.
The background is that my amp "stopped" when the blue mains cable connected to the amp's power switch disconnected. No smoke or flashes, but now having reconnected the cable to the switch nothing works.
So.. I'm hoping that it's just this reed relay that took the hit and protected the amp.
Can the reed relay be reset? To properly test it will it need to be removed?

Are you getting 12 vdc to the coil ? Are you getting any lamp illumination ? Lamps are on the same power supply as the mute relays. Did you check all the fuses around the power transformer with a multimeter ?

Make sure the connecter and pins that got "disconnected" are making good contact. Check for bent terminals or a spread connecters on the female side. This is where you believe the problem started.
