Fish fingers and custard!
I have a TEAC A-6010 GSL, a truly wonderful deck. It's built like a professional machine; 1/8" thick aluminum front panel that all the mechanism is mounted to, massive flywheel and anti-flutter flywheel, electronics mounted underneath that pull out for service. Sounds great.
Just finished restoring this nice A-4010S. Great old recorder, and I really like the way TEAC auto-reverse operates.
Foil on the outside of the tape instead of facing the heads (I never liked the idea of metal foil facing the heads and potentially scraping over them).
I also like the way the entire transport carriage drops down while the motor changes direction instead of reversing directions while the pinch roller is pressing the tape against the capstan - seems gentler on the tape.
This one had a price sticker on the back from the original store (Soundex of Willow Grove, PA) that said $550! It came unstuck and fell off at some point while I was working on it and now I can't find it but it's around here somewhere. That's a lot of coin for 1967.
