Rek-O-Kut Turntables - ROK

I recently received an S120 tonearm that’s missing the counterweight. While I wait for an extra to pop up, does anyone know of any other arms with weights that might be compatible?

Could I ask someone to perhaps provide me with the weight and spindle dimension for the normal counterweight? I have a feeling that it may be a tall task finding something directly compatible but curious if anyone’s had any success getting creative here…

If you haven't already done so, the tonearm will certainly need to be rebuilt. That would be a good thing to do while you're waiting for the counterweight.

Check out this thread where I restored a Rek-O-Kut arm....

Is it the screw on type that’s spring loaded?

Very helpful thread, thanks! Do you have a preference between the Rek and that Shure M232 arm?

It's M10, weights 160g

Perfect, thank you! Heavier than anything I seem to have on any other table, not to mention the fit...

It is screw-on, as the shaft is threaded, but there's no spring-loaded system for adjusting tracking force on this one. I've attached a photo of it - I think it might be one of their earliest versions as it's a 2-pin mono configuration.

The weight has a spring inside that keeps it in place, it’s a fairly complicated counterweight….

Does your arm have 120 or S120 on the base?33330A41-7C7D-4842-AE4A-B63D529C3112.jpeg866642AE-2504-4B52-B884-E82CA218E8A7.jpeg

AFAIK this weight was on 120 and early S120 arms then it changed to the next one below but each has a spring inside

My arm says Model 120 on the label. It does sound like a unique design - I’ll keep my eye on the auction site for a parted out one, all good things in all good time.

Hello,
I bought a Rek o Kut K33H without motor some time ago.
Last month I found the right motor, but this one came without any pulley.

I'm looking for the exterior dimensions of the original pulley (diameter and height), this way I could ask a friend to make me a 50hz pulley.

I would appreciate any help and advices.
thanks.

There were two different belts used on those - early ones had a wider, fabric belt, later ones used a more standard, rubber belt. I can take a picture of each but think you’ll want to use the rubber belt so that’s what I’ll measure for you when I get a chance.
Sizes will be in mm.

Mine was woven band tape drive.

Thank you a lot MisterDK.

At this time, I have no belt, so I need to buy one.

I saw some on ebay (and yes these are rubber I think), are these ones OK or is there a better source for it ?

pictures of the motor I found.

No matter how many times (maybe 6-8 times) I adjust the speed fine tune to sound correct, if the table sits for a while it runs slow and it takes several minutes to start moving to correct speed. I assume it's as the motor warms up.

Old reply, but once I did the full rebuild on the motor in mine, it comes up to speed almost immediately and stays there.

I had re-oiled the motor in the table but it came with a spare that didn't spin nice. Took that one apart to find one of the bearings out of place and rubbing. Thats the one currently installed, after putting the bearings under vacuum to re-oil and setting tbe bearing back in at the correct location so it didn't rub. Its also a lot quieter now with the fully overhauled motor.

@Cynos -That’s the motor for a K-33 but not the K-33-H. The “H” uses one of the German-made Papst motors which are open (no can) and square shaped. I don’t have one of those or a pulley to measure.

Who's doing replacement idler wheels these days?

Looks like Torqueo is only doing for their own RoK reinterpretations, and doesn't sell idlers separately anymore.

Can laherbau be contacted outside of "the bay" his look really nice?

Audio Silente doesn't mention RoK on their website these days, has anyone made a custom order from them recently?

Terry's Rubber Rollers is still doing, and I think I'll send my current one there.

And then Karmadon.

I'm hoping to order a nice one from somebody while mine is at Terry's

Did I miss anyone?

I've been working on a B12GH for awhile now and in the process, I mistakenly ordered an idler from Serge at Karmadon sized for the .250 idler bushing, rather than the .220 bushing which is the size of the one in my unit. Since that time I have acquired a Delrin idler from guy in Vermont which I will try first when I get to that point, so if you were looking for one from Karmadon and you haven't already ordered it (and if your unit has the .250 bushing for mounting the idler), I have this brand new one available.

@adnick Told me to post this find. Has anyone seen these leg extenders for the "B" base before? They were under the inner packing in a N.O.S. B12H I have.
