Remastered Beatles Vinyl: Will you buy?

The vinyl is all remastered from digital sources. Considering this and the amount of money they are asking for yhe set, means that I have zero interest making the purchase.

:thumbsdn:
Nope. I never thought to look for mono versions of any LP. I have to say I like the seperation and soundstage hearing instruments in different parts of the room and the Beatles are no exception. Thats just me. I have one Mono LP and it sounds dull to me but I am used to stereo.

Good Lord! :smoke:

I hope you get the chance to hear a GOOD mono setup sometime.......it just might change your mind..........and lessen your wallet:yes:

As far as possible purchase.........No, not buying digital for that price:thumbsdn:

I hope this isn't what its all about,....I love these guys but how many ways can you skin a cat???? I'm a little "old", maybe sinical (54). By the way I have every cd vinyls , Capitol,Emi,Odeon,Apple, 1st pressing, second pressing, etc,....I hope everyone gets new ears..... Wait till these guys lay these pricing at you, you'll see what I mean...., anyway can't wait till Sept 9th funny hu!!!!!! Almost forgot you want to hear something , give you goose bumps hear my Sgt. Pepper /Beatles white in mono on my Dual 1229Q!!!!!!

Huh?

Amazon is sold out of both the stereo and Mono box sets via preorder they state the Mono box set will no longer be limited to 10,000 copies but will still be limited. The only place I found a price was Barns and Nobles they are also presold out the price was $259.00 for the Stereo set no mention of the Mono at Barns and Noble.

As much as I would like to get this for the wife (she's the big Beatles fan in the house the Price is a bit much at the end of construction season with a long winter of unemployment checks in my future.

B&N hasn't been taking preorders on the mono box for a few weeks. I got mine just under the wire.

I was able to order the mono box set from Amazon today. Should have it in three to six weeks.....can't wait! :music:

What vinyl are you talking about? And what set are you talking about?

I just got confirmation from someone on the inside. The vinyl remasters are coming out in November.

According to a poster on the Steve Hoffman forums it is May 4th, 2010.

That certainly seems more likely at this point than November, which is now less than two months away. So much for my source!

Still, though, we won't know for sure that vinyl reissues will happen till they are officially announced.

Well, FWIW, I've been listening to these stereo remastered CDs all afternoon and for $12.99 a pop they're a steal.

Vinyl versions could be the cat's pajamas

Yes, new vinyl remasters of The Beatles will indeed be released, just not on Sept 9. St*v* H*ffm*n let it slip out at his Forum, then had the thread deleted. He's not involved with them, though, personally.

RTI is pressing them here in the States from metal parts shipped over from EMI.

Vinyl will be the way to fly, rather than the CDs.

Mono as well?

Thank you for offering some sort confirmation of what I suspected was inevitable!

How the Hell you been Parrot?

Jim

I think Apple is really dropping the ball...wait, I think Apple is going to drop the ball whenever it finally issues vinyl versions of the "remasters." I'm sure they will be priced so high that most fans will have to really give it some thought before they whip a wallet out. I just picked up the new Billy Childish LP compilation and it consists of 3 Lps of great quality (music and vinyl). You can pick it up in Boston for under $25.00. If a cult artist like Mr. Childish can price something so reasonably, then a major conglom like Apple could really offer something inexpensive...and sell more units.

It's getting old..

What will be next? In three years the "Remastered Remasters" with never before heard of versions of takes the Beatles would never have released. Really, at this price they really should take a step back and remember their fans and the reasons they became so rich to begin with. You can bet the vinyl will be outrageous and unaffordable to most. Let it Be.

I have not read any of this thread, other than this page.

The 'buzz' about the CDs is very good.I'd love to hear the new remasters on vinyl(digital master or not).

The thread I started with the link to the discussion of the remastering by the fellows who did it,appears to me to indicate that they were very careful not to remix anything.

I like that attitude.

Lot's of folks are commenting on how good these remasters are. That's a good sign. :thmbsp:

Bring-on the Vinyl.

Just curious--what exactly are you upset about? The Beatles haven't really been all that exploitative of their catalog, at least not compared to other bands. They've done the "never before heard of versions of takes the Beatles would never released" with Anthology already, and it got a generally good reception. Of course three of the four Beatles did agree to that. And many feel that they haven't issue enough archival stuff.

I doubt we'll see "Remastered Remaster" in three years. After all, it took 22 years for them to remaster these at all.

"At this price": at what price? You can get all of the single disc CDs for $12 or $13 bucks at retail or Amazon. Completely reasonable given the packaging and the demand there is for the Beatles.

Even the mono and stereo box sets work out to about $12 a disc each.

The vinyl reissues will probably be priced around $25 or $30, I'd expect. Expensive, yes, but totally in keeping with the going rate for classic rock reissues.

I've now done comparisons of the stereo Abbey Road, mono White Album, and mono Sgt. Pepper remastered cds to the original U.K. vinyl of each album. While the Pepper mono remaster is the best of the three, I suspect Abbey Road could sound better on vinyl if they are a bit more restrained in their use of EQ and compression/limiting. The full reviews are on myvinylreview.

I have only one copy of Abbey Road on vinyl. It is scratched up like crazy, but between the scratches I can hear what is probably the best sounding LP in my collection of about 750 titles. By all accounts, the new CDs are terrific, and I plan on ordering the mono set very soon. The Abbey Road CD will probably be last on my list as I cannot imagine it improving upon the vinyl. I'll just keep searching for a nice clean copy.
