i'm looking for a repair tech in nw ct./ sw ma. or elsewhere for my sansui au-717.

I have used ES Labs in Weathersfield CT www.eslabs.com. Although they specialize in Nakamichi, they work on other vintage equipment.
For the ultimate however, go to Soundsmith in Peekskill NY www.sound-smith.com. They have serviced many pieces of equpment for me with great success. A little pricey but high quality repair work.

NJ is south west of my location. From Long Island, New York is to the west. NJ is west of NY.

I grew up in Bay Ridge, in the shadow of the Verrazano bridge so I'm familiar with the geography. I was trying to play off the point that Brooklyn and Queens are at the western end of Long Island and if you go much further west from there you would be in New Jersey. I used to fish off the 69th street pier and from there you could see New Jersey across the mouth of NY harbor.
