No one shares my computer. As far as browsing, I get my news from two of the three "news" sites...and not including the "fair and balanced" one.

What did you go with? I've had AdBlock (free) on my system for some time now and there's not much that can sneak thru that ...
I've also got Ghostery installed - not sure how much good that does, but it did get rid of some annoying popups on other sites.

Actually you would be wrong. I fired up "Edge" which I never use on my Win 10 PC and sure enough there was the political AD's
Had to hit refresh a few times to have them come up.
And even at that I delete all other browser history on shutdown on this machine.
So no history at all with Edge as last time it was used was initially when I built this machine (Late 2017) to download Firefox.
Firefox and Chrome I have heavily locked down so I never see it.
Its ironic that a site that is so rabid about threads with politics or religion in them has this political crap as "Advertisements"
Its bullcrap fake news and its not an "Ad"

If AK is going to allow this type of Garbage they don't deserve "Revenue"
Hate to be harsh but the silence on issues like this here contrasts with the quick (And totally VALID) response when someone posts something political.
I think the world of the people who run things here and the moderation staff. But the people involved with advertising not so much.
And yes I do understand that this site costs to run. Hence why well beyond my subscriber status how much I funnel here otherwise in fund raisers.

I think some tracking tech can follow you across multiple browsers. "Fingerprinting" being one such method.

To be clear BLAMING THE USERS is not the way this gets solved. That feed is enabled by site administration and its serving the fricking AD's.

But people should not feel a site is bad for them. And these ads add to that sense of un-ease. And its not reassuring when some folks come along and start with the you need to install this or that.
This is a simple audio site. Ad's here should only be about music , audio or technology.
Anything else is just crap and needs to GO.

I just don't sweat it. I visit enough various sites and am inundated with advertising that I don't even bother to look at. Same goes for the annoying robo-calls and the pile of wasted trees that gets delivered in the mail every week. Just because you pass by a dozen bars, six churches, a mosque, a synagogue, a strip club and a porno shop on your way home from work every day, doesn't mean that you have to stop-in and check things out. I guess that I've gotten pretty good at "ignoring" things that are of no interest to me.

As I mentioned, I use adblock, so I never see ads here, but as an experiment, I turned it off to see if I would get any of these nasty ads, and the first that came up was for an art selling site, which I was visiting yesterday, on which I have a few paintings for sale. The ad showed 4-5 paintings, one of which was mine! Advertising myself to me!

I've said this for decades, and it still holds true--"The people that build the locks also sell the keys". There is no "perfect" security system (of any type). Look at the people that work for security companies, and especially internet/computer security companies. "After you get done with your 5-year bit in federal prison, you've got a six-figure job waiting on you with us." Locks and security measures are only there to keep honest people honest.
hmmm, I only use FF on this win7 machine and my win 10 machine, but I have it set pretty stingy. I see speakers and tubes cuz I think they pay AK for the right to be in the banner, but I have ne'er seen any pol ads.
