Restoring/Upgrading Crossover in a Fisher Video Tech Mark 20 STV-690

I opened the speaker and what i found is this per speaker box so double it for both speakers
Capacitors:
3.3mfd 100v
4.7mfd 100v
x2 1.5mfd 100v
Resistors?:
1ΩK 5W
1.5Ωk 5W
Is mfd the same as a μf? Theres some white rectangular boxes which i guess are the resistors. Should i buy anything specificly branded? or audio quality caps? Or should i use different capacitor values then that came with it? I can provide more info as needed and even a photo if needed.

For those speakers I would get non polarized electrolytic capacitors of the same value. You do not need to change the resistors. And yes, mfd is the same as μf (microfarad).

Thanks, Any reccomendation on where to buy non polarized capacitors? Tried mouser but they dont have the correct values i need. And i looked up one capacitor on digikey but if had 20% instead of 10% tolerance

Hey,

For electrolytic caps, I would suggest looking for Erse Audio on the net, get what you need from them. If they don't have the values you need, try Madisound and pick up some Bennic. You should be able to get what you require from either of those two.

But they've got a 20 dollar minimum and I'm not convinced you'll end up paying that much. Do you have another project that needs caps?

Thanks, but not at the moment, I could use one cheap standard polar electrolytic cap 2200uf 10v which is not for audio but i dont think thatll bring it up to $20... Any sites that might have good caps with no minimum? maybe even cheaper shipping? Paying nearly $15 for shipping seems like a waste.

If you got a 1.5uF poly cap from Madisound, that'd be FINE.

Parts Express carries caps as well, go have a look there. They carry Bennic too, but maybe you can find the 1.5uF/mfd in a poly cap.

For this application, voltage rating doesn't matter. Don't give it a second thought.
