Thanks for all the great music in the sound tracks of my life....

Blasting, billowing, bursting forth
With the power of ten billion butterfly sneezes
Man with his flaming pyre has conquered the wayward breezes
Climbing to tranquility, far above the cloud
Conceiving the heavens, clear of misty shroud

Higher and higher
Now we've learned to play with fire
Go higher and higher and higher

Vast vision must improve our sight
Perhaps at last we'll see an end to our home's endless blight
And the beginning of the free
Climb to tranquility, finding its real worth
Conceiving the heavens, flourishing on Earth

Higher and higher
Now we've learned to play with fire
Go higher and higher and higher

Its getting down to a slim group of just two original Moodies still in the band!
Mike Pinder, Ray Thomas and members of other successful Birmingham bands (singer/guitarist Denny Laine, singer/bassist Clint Warwick and drummer Graeme Edge) formed The Moody Blues in 1964. Pinder was instrumental in the selection of young Swindon guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Justin Hayward as Laine's replacement. It was Pinder who phoned Hayward and then collected him at the railway station. Old friend John Lodge from the El Riot days came in to replace the temporary Rod Clarke as permanent bassist/vocalist, thus completing the 'classic' Moodies line-up.

The core band of drummer Graeme Edge, multi-Instrumentalist Ray Thomas,
keyboardist Mike Pinder, guitarist Justin Hayward, and bassist John Lodge
were together for the band's "classic era" from 1967, on the main seven albums
they created into the early 1970s.

1967 - Days of Future Passed
1968 - In Search of the Lost Chord
1969 - On the Threshold of a Dream
1969 - To Our Childrens Childrens Children
1970 - A Question of Balance
1971 - Every Good Boy Deserves Favour
1972 - The Seventh Sojourn

They took a break after that, and Pinder moved to the US and basically left the band.
Ray Thomas retired in 2002, and died in 2018, and now Graeme Edge has died.

RIP Graeme ...

Listening to 'Every Good Boy Deserves Favour' coincidently.

Rest in peace Graeme Edge. Condolences to his family and friends.

Probably the most mysterious group ever. Loved their work. Grew up with Nights In White Satin. Strange thing is for me that I do not know the members very well. shame.

Correcting that.

Born in Rocester, Staffordshire, Graeme Edge was one of the original members of The Moody Blues, alongside singer/guitarist Denny Laine, singer/bassist Clint Warwick, singer/keyboardist Mike Pinder, and singer/flautist/harmonica player Ray Thomas. Edge provided a foundation for the original R&B and rock-flavoured band fronted by Laine, playing on all their Decca singles, including the UK chart-topping "Go Now" (January 1965), and other 1965 hit songs: "I Don't Want To Go On Without You", "Everyday", and "From The Bottom of my Heart (I Love You)", which were additionally released in that year.

The original releases were still in rotation when I started listening to the radio in my very early teen years, and then came the reasonably popular second wave, which I also enjoyed.

A group of friends I had would do a few weeks or so of concentrating on different bands, each of us buying one of their albums and having listening parties.
We spent quite a while with this band. Lots of good material and great fodder for discussion.

I always thought it was a travesty that it took so long for them to be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. I guess they were too unique.

I'll be playing some Moody Blues today in his memory.
