I saw one in Alberta a while back. Don't quote me, but I think it was priced at $1000. A Friend of mine has an original red vinyl Hemispheres.

I collected the first 4 SDE boxes but gave up as the prices climbed. When I realized that I would be at least 93 by the time Clockwork Angels hits its 40th, I figured there were better places to spend money.

This will probably be my last Rush purchase, but who knows? There may be more bits and pieces:

I already had the Kiel set on vinyl, but wanted a portable version. I didn't have Agora at all, so this was welcome.

Not surprised if it were to float in the $1000 range. Would love to have one but....ya know many other priorities in life that require $1000. I do have that red Hemispheres record as well.
 
Geddy Lee at Massey Hall. Thought I’d better caption this in case the video goes walkabout. It can get annoying when you’re left scratching your head wondering was should be there.

Nice. I got off the box set wagon at Subdivisions.

I choked down the price for the “super deluxe” box set at Moving Pictures because of the new material and swag. I wanted that red Barchetta model and Peart‘s lithographed sticks too.

Subdivisions, while good, was nearly as much money and no new or unreleased material. No swag either. Some 45’s and thats it. I mean how hard would it be to throw in a plastic/ceramic dalmation and hydrant?

So I’m out on the box/anniversay sets. Just feels like a money grab now.

Enjoy it though, especially if you don’t already have the atlantic vinyl. I’ve already got them so they’d be doubles for me:

Its somewhere close to $500 CAD to get one here.

that box set is supposed to have garden road and Bad boy. Two songs RUSH hasn’t officially released before. They’re both on the bootleg though:

The bootleg is great! A third never released song is “fancy dancer”. As far as I know, its only on the bootleg. A feedback squeal in the odd place, but it is a live performance recording. It’s as “raw” early RUSH as you’ll ever get. Literally two weeks after Peart joined the band, so its the earliest you’ll ever hear him playing. Even then, you can hear his talent…

I paid $250.00 for the 7LP and book set. Still in the mailer -
Then I decided that I wanted the CD's also so I have that set too. I'm keeping it, that one was 375.00
Yeah, I'm a dope. If I don't manage to sell that first set, I've got a lot wrapped up in R50

Hey, you could have paid $250 for a Tool Undertow 30th anniversary CD. Just kidding, but Tool takes the money grab thing to a whole new level with this Undertow 30th anniversary release. If Tool really wants to make some money they need to release a concert blu ray.
 
Anybody remember the AK member Permanent Waves? We had a few conversations about Rush 10 or 11 years ago, and I tell you, there cannot possibly be a bigger Rush zealot than this guy. He was very bright. I would send him a few sentences and a couple of minutes later he would respond with 2 long paragraphs. Not long after that seemingly, he just disappeared.

Anyone that read his posts can tell you how long his posts about Rush were. And it's the only topic he would write about it seems.
 
I’ve been a RUSH fan since 74 when I was 9 and bought their first album with my “chores” money. That's the album you see on my wall in the pic a few posts up. It's been with me all these years. It's certainly not perfect (preadolescent handling being what it is....) but it's a memory machine for me as much as anything else. Every pop and click has meaning to me.

They’d all be my original “bought in the year they were released” albums if a divorce and vengeful ex-wife hadn’t been in the picture along the way. At least the one she got had a proper “viking funeral”….:mad:

I try not to be a “zealot” though. Just want to be a fan.

Geddy’s autobiography has a ridiculous amount of small details and insider information though:

A plethora of personal/never before released photos from both early life and on the road. Both of the Band and his own life. It was extremely revealing. Like the time he showed up for a rehersal and Rutsey had ”fired” him so he, Lifeson and some other guys could form the band “Hadrian” (named after Hadrian’s wall). That flopped and Geddy was brought back on. He doesn’t hold back about how he felt about it either. Real, insider, nitty gritty details….he doesn’t hold back much, if at all.

Peart’s books are also quite revealing in litle known details. Working my way through Ghost Rider atm:

Its intensely personal in some points. Quite enjoying it and have had one or two revelations in my own journey while reading it. A kinship, or perhaps just a “yeah man, thats it!” moment or two.

Rode a BMW GS, not to be like Neil, we just aligned on that one.
If you are a fan, it's hard not to feel like they are friends, good friends!
My journey started when I came back from overseas and the big Evac, finishing out my 2 years in a big city (CULTURE SHOCK!) and I heard this song on a college FM station during a chow break in May of '76, I was 19.
I was AWOL for about 15 minutes from my appointed duty. I HAD to find out who was playing this 20-minute-long song! 2112...,from there, I went backwards to the first three. I could not believe the sound that a three-man band was putting out there. Of course, no internet so I always wondered about John Rutsey
BMW rider mag had a great story about Neil and the guy who wrote some story in "mechanics Illustrated" that inspired "Red Barchetta". How they connected and met. Both being BMW riders, rode together for a bit and a concert was involved. Wish I had saved that one

I've tried audiobooks. I just can't get into them. I need paper and hardbacks preferred over softcover. Just the way I am I guess.

Peart was a "car guy", amongst other pursuits. I identify with that, except I'm more of a "gear head" than he was. Can't bring myself to open my copy of "Silver Surfers":

I will eventually, there's just something that's holding me back from breaking that cellophane. Probably the fact that it was the last book he did and something in the back of my brain is just not wanting to open it....

Guitar models are from Axe Heaven. Geddy's Jazz bass and LIfeson's Gibson. Those are Peart litho'd promark 747 sticks. The Barchetta and the litho'd guitar picks are out of the moving pictures Supreme deluxe box set.

I even have a few Peart touches in my speaker risers:

Have to take the stingray apart and paint the interior red like Peart's.

The moving pictures Peart litho'd 747's are under my Dual 1249, and they "glow" at night under the blue led's mounted under the table:

I still have to put the Rickenbacher "swoosh" on the headstock and Lifeson's white gibson needs the pick guard painted black. I'll eventually get a miniature Peart drum kit for that spot too. Probably end up 3d printing one up to get it sized right.

Anniversary release stuff. Two in the middle are books. on the right is the "previously unreleased" YYZ (Toronto) concert from the MP box set and below it is the Clockwork Angels tour albums.

I've got the tour albums to go with the studio albums (exit stage left, all the worlds a stage, etc) but they live on the shelf with my other LP's. Only so much wall in the room and there comes a point where it's jsut too much and you just end cramming things together. Truthfully, I'm probably just a touch over the top as it is.....:rolleyes:

Hmmm, maybe I am a bit of a "zealot" after all.....LOL!

Back when A Farewell To Kings came out, I got the mistaken impression that Al and Ged were major dopers.... but it's not all my fault! See they came through our town of Beaumont, TX during that tour. I had just gotten my first job at a steak house, and my brother and a friend of ours worked at the same place. The night before the show, I was off work, and Al and Ged went there to eat. Obviously, they were easy to spot at the time with all that hair. Plus you gotta remember, this was in Beaumont. So the next day, both my brother and our friend Joe told me "ohhh man they were soooo WASTED". They were convinced both of them must have been on some hard core $#!@.

Anyway, after hearing that story and Rush's music, I just assumed my guys were right. But everything I've learned about them since then seems to prove they were more straight-laced than any of us were. Al & Ged were probably at least a little drunk.
 
Well, like all 70’s rock bands, they did go through a drug and drinking phase.

Weed, Coke and such.

Was pretty bad at one point and Peart has hinted in interviews more than once he was high during many of the songs he wrote. One of Peart’s best friend's (Brutus) was a “dealer”. He even funded his legal defense when he was caught “importing” a third time and was looking at a 25 year sentence.

They weren’t “toxic twins” bad, but bad enough.

“Passage to Bangkok” is a song about drugs…smoking up mostly.

And of course, then there was the booze.

The boys don’t shy away from it and hide it, but they also don’t try to “talk it up” like some others do. Its a very “yeah, we were there, we did it, next question” type of thing with them. Basically, they don’t deny it and they don’t judge others for it, but they don’t promote it either.

They’ve always had a very “live and let live” philosophy…
