SACD recommendations

Here's a NEGATIVE review.

Nice performance of my favorite cantatas but deceptively labeled as an SACD when recorded at 44.1/24, or about a third of the bandwidth of an SACD. It can't be much better than a Redbook CD so don't pay a premium!

I'll have to be assured that the next BIS SACD I consider buying was recorded in analog, DSD, 96/24. or better.

The Best Of Fourplay (SACD, 2020 remaster).
Great music and quality.

Can anyone confirm if this hybrid SACD plays on a regular CDP as well?

I do not recall playing any hybrid SACD where I was not able to rip the CD layer using a cheap CD/DVD player. This includes the 30th anniversary remaster of Fourplay on SACD.

If you want high resolution source material try anything on 2L records.

Barber's Adagio in its original form plus one Ives work that isn't too wacky.

The players and recording both sound great. Recorded at 96/24.

Lots of favorites but Patricia Barber - Cafe Blue is always a treat to my ears. If you can find a reasonably priced Beck - Sea change it is well worth it.

As to the performance, Dave Horowitz at ClassicsToday.com ranked it No. 1 for the late Mozart symphonies.
Sounds great too - like it was recorded inside a concert hall but no audience sounds - which I hate.

Absolutely agree with Beck's Sea Change - very enjoyable stuff.

I gotta say, tho - I keep trying to find a connection to Patricia Barber's music but she isn't happening for me ... SACD or otherwise.
I even tried to sell them off at one point - no responses ...
