Sweet job!
Where'd you source the Speaker Output Strips, nice.
I have a broken one on my fisher, that looks like it would be a good direction to go.

There was a guy over at the HK Deuce yahoo club that was selling them awhile back. I got them from someone that got them from him, so I guess I really don't know. They're pretty slick though if you want to keep a "somewhat" stock appearance on older stuff.

Jim Mc has speaker strips. The ones I got from him are brown though.

Just wondering Jay if the lettering on this was done with your label maker using the tacky paint technique? Man you would sure have to make sure that you got it in the right place the first time :D

Cheers

I make the numbers with a Dymo label maker on clear tape, then trim them up close. I apply them when the paint is just still a little tacky. Fussy work for sure, so I use a magnifier visor and tweezers (2 pair).

Rock chock...er...um....

Very nice Jay :thmbsp: Bet it sounds like a million bucks

This reminds me that I need to get Henry to make the walnut base for my 232that matches the case he made for the 210.

It does sound good. I've got it running on the A10 test bench speakers with Sovtek EL84s and 29 dollar DVD player for a source.:music: Kind of amazing how a conglomeration of crap can sound. Had some trouble at first, forgot to run power to the first stage plate resistors (that'll make'm quiet). Then had distortion caused by to high of plate voltage on all the small sig tubes. I used some scrap resistors that were labeled 15 ohm sign then k, so I thought they were 15k. They were 15 ohm. It would have been good for a guit amp probably. She's singing right purty now.

Jay that is outstanding looking unreal  Found the golden lions last week. Cant wait to find a pre amp and try it out with on the old thorens. and the old kef corellis. What should I look for In a preamp? found a pas-2 on the bay. Thanks John

Let's run it with a passive for awhile John, or better yet, do you have a CDP with variable output? I have a small passive (just an attenuator in a box) that you can use and I think you will be amazed at how this amp will sound with no "crap" in front of it. I'll try to get her by your shop Tuesday, but Joe Bray is keeping me awfully busy.

Hey guys, this is the guy that actually had the Deuce dumpster amp given to him, the a big Baldwin, then this pilot. He's like sugar to flies lately on old Hi-Fi. That's why I'm buddying up so much.:D

I was thinking of letting him use the littel cigar box thingy you sent me years ago. I've since built one into my test bench. I think that's the best way to develope an opinion on just an amplifier. As long as the spikkers and CDP are of decent quality of course. This old gal can make a tough man cry now.:music::tears:

****, would you believe I'm one RCA jack short. Oh well, just sent in a order and AES is fast, so look for it around Thur. or Friday John.:thmbsp: I want to listen to it some more anyway.:D:music:

Hi Jay
Down in the basement I found a proton preamp/tuner that works fine all that is wrong with it is the dig display is out don't no what happend to it? It used to run the st-70 fine. :music: Thanks Jay

Wow, if I didn't already know how auricaps sound before they break in, I'd probably be pulling silver wire out of this thing. Talk about a jagged edge on top, it's pretty rough. The bottom sounds great though and I think as soon as those caps smooth out some, it will be a nice ittle power amp.
