Schiit Fans ?

..
Yeah, you just got your Tyr’s and I bet they sound tremendous. I bough my Aegir on closeout and don’t have any interest in getting a new Aegir 2. I am very pleased with it but am glad to see that Schiit is always developing new stuff. Now if they’d only develop a low power 15-20 wpc tube speaker power amp I’d be all over it.
..
The Tyrs are astounding... when brand new they were great, but over the last 10 days they have gotten even better, especially the bass response. They now have just as much low end grunt as my Parasound A21+ (I keep having to dial back my subwoofer). Classical music unbelievable with the Freya+ in tube mode... cellos reach way down low, upright bass will play down below the level of my hearing, but I can feel it.

I too wish they would make a full blown tube amp- I'd use it in my office with my old Infinity RS4b speakers- that would sound so mellow...

I know you guys are just spitballing about a full tube power amp, but as lovely as that would be, it's hard to imagine Schiit building something like that. Seems like it would be a boutique product way over the price points that they deliver. Still, it would be fun.

Aegir 2 is on the watchlist. It would move my Vidar to a different room.

Yeah, I doubt they ever bother with a full blown tube power amp, but wouldn't it be nice...

I just sold my Parasound 2250 V2 amp and one of my Parasound A21+ amps, now I'm thinking about selling the other A21+ and replacing it with a Vidar 2 in the office stereo to power the Infinity RS4b speakers... it's nice to dream !

I'm going to be 70 this year and those A21+ amps are just about too big for me to manhandle anymore... I had to use a dolly and have my son help me load it into the car and drop it off at FedEx - gone are the days when I could just toss the 90 pound box around like it was nothing.

Both Jason and Mike love tubes. An EL84 A/B PP power amp could easily be done by them and sold for a fair and reasonable price, say in the neighborhood of $1500-$1700. Though I’m pretty sure the chances of it are low.

Well today "March Madness" ensued in my house, and not the college basketball type: my wife finally cleaned out the credenza she has been itching to put the TV on to get rid of the "Man Cave" look of the living room she has been complaining about. I moved by heavy butcher block rack /stereo out of the way (pretty easy on the hardwood floor because it has Herbie's Fat Glider feet) and moved the empty credenza in place... and she hated the way it looked !

She says she might want to paint the credenzas antique reddish color white, but she has to think about it some more.. however I pointed out that the Monitor Audio Silver 500 speakers that sit on either side are a very red Rosewood color which will clash like crazy with a white credenza. Anyway I ended up putting all the furniture and stereo back where it was and I am awaiting the next iteration of her decorating desires. At least the living room got a good cleaning...

They made a crazy headphone amp a few years ago that had Ten tubes (the Folkvangr) so there is always a tiny bit of hope..

Yeah, that’s a wild looking thing. On a completely different note, yesterday I ordered an Akitika GT-108 discrete power amp. Not the kit but one that will be built and tested. I’m a sucker for power amps. And yet another one for my collection.

I have a new to me, silver Gungnir A2 Unison coming. It will replace my vintage AA DDE 3.0 & DTI 2.0 stack in the headphone system. My main speaker rig has a Yggy LiM already.

Added an extra set of Socket Savers to the Freya+ so that I can change tubes without it pulling the socket saver up out of the circuit board (which is the purpose of the things in the first place) Now I can get a grip on the second level socket saver and pull the tubes out with no problems... it does look a bit goofy but works nicely:

You have one socket saver plugged into another socket saver plugged into the socket? Correct?

How much of difference do you get with heat dissipation from socket stacking? Wonder if it is worth it for a Freya N for heat reduction purposes.

These days I've minimized audio since moving to a 2 bed villa that is short on dedicated listening room space. I'm now running desktop in my office with a Magni headphone amp/pre into a Rekkr power amp. 2w/ch into a pair of Dali Spektor 1s.

Well, the idea of using the credenza to hold the stereo & TV was officially withdrawn today, the stereo can stay on the Butcher Block Acoustics rack... she said it was her menopause making her a bit loony...

So I bought two new amps (Tyrs) and sold one of the old ones (A21+) for nothing... however I really like these darn Tyrs, and one of my buddies says they sound better than the A21+ which he always thought were a bit too high pitched. He is a lot younger and can still hear above 12 Khz, while I myself cannot hear a bit of difference between them at all, but the Tyrs are a lot easier to move around.
