Scott LK-150 rebuild/modification thread

Apologies for highjacking an old thread, but I'm tube illiterate and this seems to be the thread with the most knowledge and help on this specific amp.

A friend gave me his LK-150. It had sat in storage for years, and when he gave it to me, it wasn't working, looked as if it had been submerged in water (rust), covered in cobwebs, and missing parts, etc. I've sent it to my local vintage electronics repair guy and he's got it almost done. Recent hangup is that it's missing one small lightbulb and the connector the bulb plugs into. These are behind the meter behind the faceplate.

What are these bulbs called, and where can I find one and also a new connector?

It's a bi-pin base, and I think that the one s-petersen listed is correct. You can usually find them in singles rather than boxes of 10.

I don't think I have any around here. If I did, I'd be happy to send you one.

Sorry to revive this thread. It seems like there’s a wealth of info here already but just in case...I have a clean 1961 one and a host of other things I got with a purchase today. If you need something just message me.

Damn. Nice score on the paperwork alone! What revision is marked on that schematic?

It seems to say 1961. Close up below.

Wow, definitely recommend scanning all the docs into pdf files and adding to the AK database. I sure wish there was similar for the mono tube amps like the 240, 250, and the 265a.

I definitely want to, just need to find a scanner. My wife has one at her work but I don’t get there too often. Still, would love to scan all the books. They all have extra bulletins of different types inside.

Modern cellphones work fine as scanners as long as you’re not trying to do large volumes of work. I use a free Microsoft app called “Office Lens” on an Android phone. I would imagine there are similar apps for iPhones.

Thank you! The schematic that I worked from when re-drawing it a few years back had the same date and signatures, but says "SUB 2" in the drawing number instead of "SUB 0". I'll have to look it over and see if I can find the differences.

I'd also suggest uploading scans to somewhere like hifiengine for anything they don't have on it. Just to spread the info around.

I see you have a LK-150 assembly manual. Is it possible I could get a copy of the entire manual. I've got 2 LK-150 and they've been modified to heck. Thanks, Ed Morris

Revive again with questions. All good stuff here. I have a short list which follows:

I've got Scott LK-150 that I'm working on and it has been dropped on the face
and on the caps and tubes.

The two knobs (left and right) broken.
And the right (green) bias push switch is broken off.

Any one have have P/Ns for the bias push switches? Red, Black?

Ideas about the two knobs?
One is broken the other is a mess.

Finally couldn't get the layout for the binding posts
for the speaker outputs. Photobucket doesn't allow it.
Working part numbers would be helpful also.

One other question, for some reason when I was going to
order some caps for this amp, the guy told me this was a positive ground
amplifier and the caps (that he'll install in his cans will be positive ground?
IS THIS CORRECT?
it seems incorrect to me.

With the paperwork that I could find, the rewire of the caps from the bulletin
and it's associated unreadable graphic I unsure how to proceed. I'll go look
in the database perhaps there are better scans now.

Thanks in advance.
