well I am 40 so not 20 “young” my company provides everything for us to do our job. Masks, gloves , good sanitation practices. I self quarantined for 3 weeks, my wife runs a hair salon she just opened for business again after 5 weeks of closure.

1 at a time masks, temperature gets taken when you enter her shop , she had a line wrapping around the building yesterday. And luckily people understand.

Trust me, we do anything we can to be safe.
And it’s actually the majority of people that can carry the virus without ever even knowing. So it’s not just younger people , could be you just as well. There are plenty of elder people that have a good immune system.

It’s life people, it doesn’t discriminate, or acts picky on who it infects. That’s one thing about a virus, it doesn’t care who/what you are. Just use common sense and cleaning routines and you should be fine.

Also younger people can die from it (it already happened) so it’s not just elder people that are the victim here.

you might find that stupid perhaps ignorant that’s fine. Stay at home, warm cozy and fearing the world around you. I don’t, i could die from a heart attack, or get driven over by that crazy bus driver , or by a drunk driver the second I take a turn.

I refuse to live in fear over Covid 19, there are ways to increase your safety, and I am doing just that. I don’t blame people being scared, but calling me a idiot because YOU ARE SCARED..

Doesn’t make me one ☝️ it just makes you scared, and that’s okay. Understandable even, but i won’t recluse myself for months to come, because I might contract Covid. Heck, I can’t even if I wanted too, I got a job to do I got mouths to feed .

again not trying to sound ignorant, but I feel with proper sanitation and ppe, pay attention when interacting with people. Your chances are very slim in contracting it .

You come off as overly angry and demeaning of those who simply choose to hunker down. Imo

Given we seem to be learning new things and discovering loads of mistakes practically daily as this unfolds, I dont think one needs to bash one of the many mindsets on it.

I understand folks reaching that panic state given how crazy this has become.

Just dont see a need to come down on folks being worried about becoming infected and or spreading it.

By trying proactive over cautious actions when faced with any unknown would seem prudent. Later may when safe and sound all has passed back to normal, seem extreme.

BTW, some of the most taking care to not be infected ( front line HC workers first responders) are still getting sick and dying.

Of that sounds angry and demeaning you clearly have other issues to deal with. As i was merely explaining, that young or old doesn’t matter to the virus. And that I refuse to live in a box for months to come. Hunker down never said anyone should go out there and jump joy ignoring it (where did you even conclude that from?!)

I got a life to tend too , I don’t have the luxury of sitting at home for weeks to come. as I am considered essential during this pandemic so work has to continue.

And i never said people should go outside and jump around naked coughing on each other

You interpret that anyway you wish, and yes someone did say “these idiots” going out doing deals. As I am one of those, I beg the differ (which I reflect in my previous comment)

perhaps read the entire tread and not just nitpick and jump the gun on reacting, to make it seems as me being angry or demeaning. I am far from it..

Anyways not here to butt heads, I have my own thoughts on it “unpopular “ and that’s fine. You do what you feel is right..

That's because of the virus load they're exposed to. The ICUs housing Covid-19 patients are full of the virus, on every surface and in the air. Even exhalation from ventilators blows it into the room. While most ventilators nowadays filter the exhaled side of the circuit, too, the filters don't catch everything. Negative pressure rooms help too, but nothing is 100% effective.

It is my attempt to let people talk about scroes they didn't get (most of us don't need more stuff) and encourage letting bargains slide because there will always be another.

It’s one of the joys of being the OP.
I’ve had at least one of my threads that I sincerely debated deleting after it completely devolved into crap.

Back to the topic... I’ve had to stop myself from looking at Craigslist and fb marketplace, cause I know I have little self control.
I do keep scouring eBay though, because any package I order from there can sit in my shop for a few days before I open it. Not a lot of scroes on eBay these days, so instead I’m looking for broken projects to work on.

I do miss the hunt though.

I've no idea what it's like in your neck of the woods but if it's anything like mine your missing nothing.

FBM especially. Just loads and loads of folks trying to sell garbage for $. Or the usual over priced regulars.

And I totally agree with the OP in the notion we often have too much crap already. That's what I've been spending my free time on. Sorting through all the stuff I've amassed. Tossing allot of it in the trash. And unloading a bunch too.

It has really opened my eyes and plan to change my collecting ways.

Oddly enough checking ebay has been the thing I stopped doing. It didnt even dawn on me for weeks that i hadn't looked at it. Been too busy with around the house work and sorting my stuff to unload.

It's like going thrifting. Sorting through stuff I hadn't seen for ages lol.

I too have pretty much stopped looking at FB MP, CL and the likes.

Seemed to be the same old gear at same prices. Going stale. Something may show up since not actively seeking will miss. Did have a few calls from people wanting to sell gear at high retail prices. Passed without making an offer.

A few days ago it looked like good deals from Flea Market vendors selling off shelves display cases before first of month. If I had wanted a glass display case or good solid shelves there were a few good deals there. But records CD and gear seem to be at the same asking prices as before. Just not moving quickly.
