Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasi.

Phew, thank goodness you made it through the worst. I was pretty concerned about your situation. Very cool that you've taken the time to let us know you are OK. And good luck with the cleanup. Wish I was there to help.

BTW now you know what a thousand screaming banshees sound like!:D

We lost power about 9:45 pm and it is still off. I'm using a large 12 volt battery and an inverter to power this computer. Anyway, I survived, but now the work starts. Regards, Felix aka catman.

If you were a true blue Queenslander you'd be using that inverter to power the fridge.

G'day mate, sadly it's only a small inverter! :D Regards, Felix aka catman.

G'day all, thanks for all the good wishes. They are very much appreciated. Now we have to worry about flooding. A river flood of moderate level is now expected owing to the heavy rain last night!

Yes there will be a lot of repair work, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

***Thankfully no fatalities or serious injuries have been reported.*** :thmbsp: Regards, Felix aka catman.

Thats the main thing. Great news. :thmbsp:

G'day all, well it's now 5:16 pm Thursday on this rainy and grey evening and we have floodwaters in our street (already!).

I have to admit that all the stress and general worry of the last couple of days and the complex work required in the future has left me feeling slightly unwell and somewhat depressed.

Actually my blood glucose is a little high I expect, probably brought on by stress. Yes that does happen. Hopefully I'll snap out of it soon, but sometimes it gets a little too much to handle. Regards, Felix aka catman.

Glad to hear that you are still with the living, Felix.

Good luck dealing with the damage and the flooding.

Keep us informed on your progress . . . and God bless.

be sure to get as much rest as you can, stress of any kind is a tremendous drain. I've been in life threateing situations, but none of that sort of duration, I know I'd be a shell of myself till rested, well nourished and replenished. A low period is inevitable after so many hours of adrenaline driven mayhem. Hang in there

Felix, what you experienced must have been bloody scary! Thank god you are still with us. I have to admit I was a bit concerned about you when I saw the the TV news.

We are with you, Felix!:thmbsp:

Felix:

Thank goodness that like your namesake you have 9 lives!

It sounds like something I would never want to go through.

Glad to hear you made it through!

I was happy to see you post again. I've been watching the weather radar from your area and it looked really bad!
I experienced a couple of hurricanes and, like you say, the noise will make your hair stand up.:yikes:

All this worrying about you Felix has seen my post rate rocket from 0.33 to 0.34 per day. I'll have to get a Shure M97xe to celebrate. :tresbon:

That's enough disasters for one year.

big relief that you are safe , Felix
It must have been quite an ordeal but you fought it out. Give yourself a huge pat on the back, take inventory of things and celebrate. You survived to tell the story of the big storm another day.
If you can, take a walk and check on your neighbors. A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Yes that sound is unforgettable. I was at an amusement park (Cedar Point) last summer, and they have a particular roller coaster that sounds strikingly similar to a hurricane wind. That thing was creeping me out all day.

And now we have flooding!

G'day all, if the cyclone wasn't bad enough, now we have flooding. The floodwaters came in last evening and I took these photos a short time ago at about 6 am today the 4 th February 2011.

I had a reasonable sleep last night and I feel ok, I hope this battery power supply holds up ok as there is still no mains power and running water. Regards, Felix (vk4fuq) aka catman.
