My Pioneer PL-44FS, does not like colored vinyl, the tonearm will not engage with colored vinyl on the deck, shame because alot of my vinyl is colored. I have to use a different turntable for the colored stuff.

That is because the size detection system thinks there is no disc on the platter. A bit of tape over the slots might fool it into thinking there is a disc in place.

Some, but not all of my coloured records. For whatever reason, the majority of them seem to be pressed on red vinyl. Several clear ones too.

A myth, especially if the colored record's vinyl is translucent. Opaque colored vinyl (like the Dave Mason one pictured above) can be noisy because it can contain fillers and other additives that are used in black vinyl. But, all other things being equal, translucent colored discs have to use pure virgin vinyl so they almost always sound *better* than their black counterparts. I find them much quieter with little surface noise compared to "regular" black vinyl.

Not always the case....Take the new pressings of Ozzy's Blizzard and Diary on picturedisc. Just got 'em from POPmarket (go look!) and they sound AMAZING. The background is so quiet it's astounding. The music seems to leap out of the grooves.

I got them yesterday, and while they're certainly not bad for pic discs, I wouldn't call them amazing sounding by any standard. There definitely is a lot more background noise than ie. the Jimi Hendrix bundle (also from popmarket).

1949, RCA makes a big push for their new 45 PPM technology.
The disks were color coded:
Popular...(Black)
Classical...(Red)
Popular Classical...(Midnight blue)
Children's...(Yellow)
Country and Western...(Green)
Blues and Rhythm...(Cerise)---
International...(Sky blue)

Nice, I only have 1 clear/red 12" Vinyl Liberace Ohh La LA.
I have a couple of picture LP's and 4 grey Vinyl 45 sized records that play at 33rpm just released by green day (couldn't get the clear vinyl) and maybe 1 or 2 other colored 45's.
