Shield?

This little PT I'm wiring into a circuit has a grey wire on the primary side labeled "shield." I'm going to connect it to ground unless one of you wiser fellas tells me not to...

Grounding of the Faraday shield is the proper thing to do. Out of curiosity, what is the power transormer model and make?

It's an Allied transformer, 6K49VG. I'm not sure who makes it for them, but it's made in Canada. Hammond, perhaps?

I need a transformer of about that size for a line stage that is in the concept stage. I didn't realize Allied had such transformers in this day and time and at such a good price!
