show me your AR9's

I think this thread is a great idea so am reviving it after ten years. :music:

Mine do not look quite so imposing on either side of a 10' screen:

I'll play. I just re-installed the woofers last night after re-foaming them.
These are pretty beat up and are going to get a full makeover. The mid woofers are next. Although, they sound pretty damn good now.

Here's my "naked" AR 9's, removing the foam/felt didn't change the sound to my ears... I love the look of these.

Bonder- I have not seen the "naked" configuration of the AR-9s. It sure makes the front baffles look much wider. And I like the wood grain being visible. I'll take your word that you can't hear a difference. I've read somewhere those foam and felt pads control the refraction and/or reflection effects for the midrange and tweeter output. Your '9's are unique and beautiful in appearance though. So if you can't tell a difference, that's all that matters.

Drugolf-- they don't look bad for "pretty beat up". Nice setup, but how do you set the balance control for stereo listening while using the chair in the position shown??

Yeah, the couch sucks. Pretty much divides things into halves. I moved my large system up to our theater family room for the holidays and this is where it ended up. The good thing is that the room is bigger and appropriate for their size. I just need to figure out how to make it work better. I don't think I can actually for now.
But yes, they are in rough shape...at least the cabs are. But hey, can't complain at $100, and they work.
Just added the 2nd amp yesterday.

Hey Bonder, did the felt come off in one piece well enough? I need to take mine off to refinish the cabinets.

I'm starting to wonder if anyone ever paid more than 150.00 for their AR9s.

Some of us were not so lucky, but I did not hesitate to pay hundreds more for mine nearly 20 years ago in pristine condition with new caps! I also paid more for my AR90s which sound great, too.

The photos disappeared from my post above which cannot be edited, so I'm adding them back in below:
