For me, it made a big difference. The mics and their placement are golden. Followed by room acoustics during the recordings. This guy has some nice tips.
My opinion: mic'ed videos of the speakers sound different from direct preamp recordings. Especially in the lower-mid/bass. More life and not as flat and dry-sounding. So, the work to refine the recordings is worth it.
