Really looking forward to the arrival of my PS-X75 (all fingers and all toes are crossed). Just found the proper Sony headshell for $29 and bought an AT150Ti VM cartridge (titanium cantilever rather than boron) for it. Now if it will just arrive in good shape so that I can listen to and compare to the PS-X70 and PS-8750. Will be great fun doing the comparison. I'll put the two be sound in my listening room and the other one upstairs with the LR system.
bru87tr - Not everything sounds the best to everyone. You might want to let Punker X (Radio X - Mike Williams) or dr*audio look at the tuner on your STR-6065. They have both worked some great magic on my Sony tuners and receivers. Same with Terry DeWick.
And, the STR-6065 is 30 years old. Couldn't hurt to check the bias and offset of the amp and tuner could well be out of alignment. But, it is a quite nice piece and worth the effort to make it right.

cant wait till you get it! see what you think of it. sonically it was just different but I didnt give it a whole lot of time. I will soon though.
the sony was acting weird hooked up to my PC. but headphones it was fine. gonna do a offset test. if I can figure it out. hooking up a real cd player too instead of fm. seems to play fine through headphones gota check the speakers now.

Yes....to be fair both should be connected identically. TT/CDP in rather than computer would be best. If using FM then would need to use either the same or identical antenna(s).
Here is a pic of my new (to me) TAE-8450, just back from EW's loving care. He cleaned and did some solder reflow, checked voltages and set and nothing else. I'll be putting new side panels on as soon as they arrive (in a week or so - Ribbon Mahogany exotic wood). Will give some feedback on listening impressions tomorrow and over the weekend as I have a chance to listen. Really clever meters. Just wish they were a bit brighter.

This is the receiver I've owned longer than any other receiver. Never has burped. Jr has had it in his room for some 5 years and he will not let me touch it even long enough to change the burnt out bulbs. He is scared I'll sub something for it and he'll never get it back. The 6060 betters it but the 6065 does not have the trouble prone demultiplex.

While 6060 is better - I never warmed up to the styling. I do love the 6120 or 6200F.
I grew up with 6050 which is no slouch. Need efficient speakers - I was driving Wharfedales so no problem there. Don't think it could handle my AR's though.
Tuner on 6065 seems to equal or better my SX950 and Sui 890DB.

Tuner in the STR-6065 is like the ST-5130 tuner, while the older receivers with FM only are based on the ST-5000W/FW. All are excellent tuners. And do agree, I like the open styling of the STR-6120/6200F/6065. Especially the later two with the machined knobs.

I have to get my tuner fixed. stereo light doesnt come on and looks a bit off on tuning. although I dont listen to the radio much.
if anyone can help me figure out which pots on the 6065 is for offset I would be greatful.
I have emailed a few people and have come up short. with so many sony owners I am finding it hard to believe someone here doesnt know.

Finally got my TA-E88B preamp today. It's looking good and it even came with the service manual (no operating manual though but who cares) ! 
Testing time now !
Pic is a stack of the TA-E88B pre on top, a TA-E86B pre in the middle and a Sony TA-N7 poweramp (getting an overhaul this weekend, finally, yay!)
Not sure whether I should sell my TA-E86B now. Hardship !
