Been playing these hard all night now, and boy do they kick ass! They sound better the more you crank them up. The bass which is a bit shy at moderate volumes really comes out, crisp, taut, yet with awesome extension to my ear. Meanwhile all the stuff that is going on in the soundstage is still very well defined and clear.

I think these deserve a bit better a speakercable. Time to experiment a bit :)
 
So here are the other pieces of my collection - see page #70 of this thread for the main stacks.
However, these I didn't buy, nor did I find them in a thrift shop for 20€. Nope - these were given to me by a french Sony collector who has no use for them now since a) he now owns an ESPRIT TA-N902 and, b) he also has another X800 !

The X800 needs some minor TLC which will be done in september.

Duuuuude, I am GREEN with envy!!!!!

What are the chances of this rare stuff being given to one ? Two TA-N900 ESPRIT mono's and a PS-X800...

You are so lucky ! But you so deserve it, indeed!

More importantly, do you have any listening impressions ? :music:
 
Tech guy here rebuilt my eBay trash PS-X600 (with the Biotracer arm) and it earned its spot in the Soundcraftmen/Luxman stereo. Not a linear drive, but proof Sony built some very fine tts.

Hello everybody,

Here are some pictures of my new V-FETs collection !
Of course, it's not so impressive as the Unda Maris's one but it's a beginning.

I found some 2SK60 in a french electronics parts shop. They have also some strange J18 with a HITACHI logo. I made some basics tests on those devices with a multimeter and I found that they are not reacting as V-FETs but like Mos-FETs.

I can't find any information on those HITACHI J18 and I can't understand how two completely different transistors can share the same reference.

Any idea ?

I know this is a Sony thread and I don't run Sony's,but my admiration for v-fets grows everytime I tweek a little more(or a lot more) performance from my system.
Are they the ultimate amplifying device?

The SS-G4 go into the chillout room up the attic, coupled with a WEGA amp (for now). Not letting those puppies go, I like them way too much for that.

Hi,
I use to make some search on the german Ebay and very often I find high end Cd players like CDP-X777 or CDP-XA70 with "SWOBODA modification". Does somebody know more about that :scratch2:?

Hope your german is up to par!

Seems like they do all kind of mods, from power supply/cable, over analog and digital parts, to the actual transport of the cdplayer.

They sure aren't cheap either. If I had all the mods done to my cdp-x777es that they have available, it would amount to a whopping 2795 euro...:screwy:

I agree with you . Spend 100€ for blue Leds or 285€ for adapting a new power supply cable is really crazy !

Afflict for my answer late, a little occupied in this moment.

Concerning my APM 4, well it must them repair but I think that I go make differently a gift in some kind with a site well-known here, but the suspension of low register well be out of working, with some time and patient one can them give in state and a new life.

I hopes that you happy with your SS-G333ES, I think so ! :thmbsp:

Hope you can find a nice home for those APM's Xart!

The SS-G333ES are growing on me more every day. They sure are great speakers, and their build quality is really amazing.

Some day I will also own a TA-E900 and two TA-N900 monoblocs. They are still on my 'very much wanted' list :yes:

You should post some pictures again of your setup. Truly impressive man!
