Show Us Your Sonys!!!

OK....TA-N7 amp folks (Kristof, Patrick, Mirko, Steve, Maurice and me). The first 24 caps arrived. Will be sending sixteen to Kristof for distribution in Europe (Patrick - 4 & Mirko - 8), four to EW for my TA-N7B and four to Steve. The next set of 12 are scheduled to arrive on 11/8. Eight of these go to Maurice and four are spares. If anyone needs a set, speak up now or forever hold your peace. Am still waiting on the invoice, so don't have final pricing as of yet.

I've been waiting a while to find the ST-A6B and finally bit the bullet. I did buy a ST-5100 this spring that had a broken power switch. I replaced that and had it all recapped and sitting in our spare garage bay (my summer shop). Someone broke in one night and the only thing they took was the ST-5100---even though the top cover was just sitting in place--it wasn't screwed on, and the bottom cover was totally missing. I'm sure whoever took it just threw it away when they found out what they had. Too bad, it was a nice little tuner. I hope the ST-A6B has a better fate.

Steve.

Think that is known as a 'Full-House', in the best kind of way. Good for you!! If coming from the east perhaps you might to have it aligned by one of our tuner mavens (Punker X, dr*audio or DeWick)

Very nice Steve! An ST-A7 would have been even better but those are near to impossible to find.

Be sure to post a pic of the setup once it is set up ! :)

For you Sony fans, I posted a comparo review of three Sony CD/SACD players against the newest Oppo player and an older Pioneer universal player. It's posted under "digital formats."

The winner? The Sony DVP-N9000ES.

Ta-8650

Here's my TA-8650, a thrift store find that you can read about in a thread I started earlier. It's had the dangerous diodes replaced, so I hope it will serve me well for years to come. Used to belong to the community music school before it passed the thrift and came to me. Paid 15$ for it in working condition, changing the diodes, getting the pots cleaned and service was quite a bit more, but considering the sound, I'm more than happy.

It has a few small dings on the front as well as the name of the music school etched on the top of the chassis, but it doesn't bother me much.

Other equipment on pic: Stax SRD-7SB which hooks up to Stax Lambdas, and Ino Audio piPs (speakers), AKG K701 headphones. Sentec TU8 Stereo Tuner (Which is wonderful.).

Beautiful! Has got to be the deal of the century for this whopper... :)

Nice headphones too !

Hope you are not keeping that tuner on top of the amp permanently, so it can breathe...

The tuner is actually not even 6" deep, so there's plenty of breathing space for the Sony, it stops right where the first vents are. It's just a temporary solution though, I'm on my way to get a better piece of furniture.

And, the Stax phones kicks, they definatley shine, even compared to the K701's, which rank very highly. I actually like the Stax phones more and more each day.

I just hope that I can find one of those PS-8750 TT's some day soon, it would match my baby nicely.

Ok good to know those precious Vfet's can breathe :D

Just missed a PS-8750 on the bay today, went for about 530€ in Germany... and was in perfect working condition.

Latest Son...y addition- the best one ever!

Here's my latest find, not from a thrift shop or ebay- this new Son..y It had to made from scratch, took most of a year to make. He is solid (10Lbs 8oz!), smooth and is the most beautiful Son..y I have ever seen. I think this one is a keeper.
Wife and Son are doing well- I can't wait to get him home so we can listen to some 'tunes' together (quietly of course)(and classical of course)

Kudos to his Designer!
The output from that component will keep you awake at night.
Guaranteed maximum WAF also.
Internal modifications without resort to downloads from the internet.
All analogue. :thmbsp: :D
How could you go wrong?
This is one example of how to obtain a poweramplifier from a receiver.:scratch2:
Obviously a DIY effort. Are you thinking of putting the time into further projects of this type?
Thanks for sharing John! :tresbon:
