So an MCS 2270 is the same amp as a Technics SU-Z600?
Pulled from the storage building. Where I happen to be keeping all the pieces acquired from a tv / stereo repair shop. Owner passed. A little head scratching admittedly took place. I brought the deck in first. Checking functions. Logic control transport buttons seemed dead. Pulled wood side panels and covers. Motor running and capstan belt still intact to my surprise. Along with transport and counter belts.
Started checking continuity all micro switches and various voltages. Then the idea hit. The wired remote was still out in the building.
Viola, plugged the remote in the back of the deck.
Lit the front function buttons up and now plays tape. Actually not too bad, heck the playback head has no wear and looks clean. I’m kinda impressed with it.

There’s an SA-600 out there as well. Will probably get that in soon to check out.
Those SAXXX receivers are gorgeous. I have a 300 and a 500. Both in service.

I have 8 components with an SA-700 and SU 8077K and matching tuner in service (the bronze European version). Including this micro 3 component set I picked up last year, 50w/channel and is potent. But have too many so selling it now, sadly it is a little scuffed up so can't get what it should be worth.

Here's a Technics Unicorn I'd love to see, I don't know if the model was ever released branded Technics but it was released branded Panasonic and was pretty popular. Does anybody have one of these, the article is from Australia (archive.org). As far as I know, Technics never had a personal portable for cassettes but they did have portable CD players and boomboxes.

A Quasar top loader! I didn't know they made one. I was liked the first Philips/Marantz/Magnavox top loading CDP's. Or is it a top loader?

It still has an issue, it should play without remote. most people didn't opt for those.
My thought was maybe a jumper plug may have been provided if no remote used?

I have an m45 deck from early 80s with remote jack and nothing is in it and it plays fine. Also have a yamaha c-300 with a wired remote and it plays without as well.
Good to know. Noted as a problem then. It’s not in use anyways. Far more work ahead of this. I really don’t like tape machine repair. Not even a belt replacement. Thanks for the info @Macdaddy

I don't mind doing belts as long as I can remember how to reassemble. I take lots of pictures now and still don't always remember the sequence!

Picked up this SU-8055 with a bad stk and a few other issues for almost nothing. It was super dirty and ugly as sin. I needed something that was small in size, and this fit the bill. I fully restored it, and built a custom mahogany and walnut case for it. Makes lovely music now.
