Show Us Your Utahs!

Man I wish I still had the pics of the one`s I used to have made some cabs with 4
FR12`s with two 2x4`s and a very large 4x 12 I think with crossovers all purchased at a little place called B&A or Burstein & Applebee. This really brings back some memories!!

the cabs must have been the size of refridgerators!

Damn lguise. You have an extensive collection of Utah drivers....can I ask why?

I haven't really spent much time with my pair I posted pictures of earlier. When I get a chance I'll write up some more info and get some better, maybe inside pics.

well, it started out that i wanted to build a pair of speakers with 15" woofers and horns. the first affordable, nice 15's i found were utahs. i haven't posted them yet. then i found the horns posted above. the 15's are awesome sounding! but the synergy is not there with them and the horns, but the horns sound really good too. so i decided to try to find a nice pair of 12" utahs to go with the horns, and some nice utah mids and tweets to go with the 15's. the rest is history. problem is, now i seem to be hooked on utah. eventually, so of the extras will have to go. you should see all the EV's i have in the closet!

I'm still not sure exactly which model these are.

Kegger has a pair of 8" full range drivers that are nice sounding. The pair of Heritage HS-6 (i think) that I had could have possibly been the worst speakers I've ever purchased. Cabinet construction made Panasonic thrusters look like fine furniture. Well, maybe not quite that bad, but they were terrible speakers. I threw them out.

I no longer have these and they are tagged teledyne/olson, But i'm 99 percent sure they are Utah. Figured they would be good to include in the thread.

model W15AXC 15" woofers

this is the last pair of i have on hand for the moment. these things rock severely! i've been experimenting with different cabinets for these, i've gotten close, but not quite where i want them to be. i've tried them with a lot of different mids and tweets and have settled on some 12" full ranges for the mids. the search for tweeters continues. these have the code 328426 on them. they are ceramic magnet, very heavy. i've driven them with every bit of my onkyo m5150 (150 wpc) with no complaints whatsoever.

Yes,
My Utah 15" Bass speakers (2) are the best Ive found so far.
21 pounds each, massive magnet. BRUTAL.

Yet refined with spring posts and aluminum dust covers.

Sweet, sweet sweet for bass.

I had them on the Bass channel on my Telefunken console and the only problem I had is that together they are nearly as big as the console.

Ended up switching out to a dual 8" setup.

I just like to look at these monsters.

Those are exactly like the 4 I have.

these little pa speakers make pretty good midranges. using with foster tweeters for now.

i've got a pair on the way that came from soundcraftsmen lancers. they look like the 8" pa's i have, but with a tweeter mounted across the front. can't wait to hear them!

Here's my Utah.. Only one I have.. it sounds pretty good too.. It's my garage speaker. I use it with my Altec 810 on the other channel. I also have a Utah horn like shown in this thread hooked to it for more top end.

OH.. Notice the tweak attached to the top left corner it came with :D
