Silver Faced Equalizers

Audiosource support sucks

Finally got a hold of the owners manual. Here are the spec's for the microphone I need:

"Accessory Microphone"
Type: Electret Condenser
Sensitivity: -73dB at 1,000Hz +/-3dB
Directionality: omni directional
Frequency Response: 30-16,000Hz
Operating Voltage: 1.5VDC (Power source not built into Microphone body)"

It's the last spec (voltage) that has me confused. Normally the Electret Condenser Mic's I have seen use a AA or AAA battery in the body. Here is says (if I read this right) to not use that type. Am I correct in my reading of this?

I picked up this Realistic one real cheap for my garage system.

Works fine with the sliders cleaned up and doesn't seem to add a bunch of extra hiss or anything.

The sensitivity does not matter that much for using the analyzer; it will only change where the 0 line is. If the sensitivity is a little higher than 73dB the 0 line will be a bit higher than the marks on you're EQ, but the curve will still be the same.

The thing about the power source not build in, might suggest that the EQ has phantom power.

I tried the EQ from my AudioControl Richter Scale III and it worked. Thanks on the sensitivity statement, I will have to find out what this mic's ratings are.

I just picked up a Pioneer SG-9 Champagne colored EQ, got for $15 and other than the lettering for the "Tape Monitor" down in the corner being pretty much scraped away and of course the infamous Pioneer "detent push button" problem (which isn't a real problem if you don't use them), it works wonderfully....

I have too many EQs... lol... I will find a home for each and everyone of them throughout the house and garage though :D

ADC SS-10 (silver)
Sansui SE-9 (silver)
Teac Mk-10 (black)
Pioneer SG-9 (champagne)

I mentioned it early in this thread but it did not get that much attention; if you want really good vintage silver faced graphic EQ, go for a Klark Teknik DN360. They are now being phased out from the pro world (the digital controlled EQ's are taking over), so the used prices on them are dropping and to put it straight they work.
