Skylab's "Vintage" Rig

It's an SE-8X. Note that the wood cabinet is not original - I just happened to find a vintage cabinet that fit nearly perfectly. No idea what the cabinet was originally for.

Well, I've made a few very small changes. The QL-600 is out, and I stuck the SR-303 and a recently acquired RG-2 together in a wood case designed for the CT-F1000, and they fit perfectly together in there. Turntable upgraded from PL-530 to PL-570 with custom walnut case, and I got a nice walnut case for the RT-707.

The Sansui EQ with custom wood case is the stuff of dreams. That thing must be so fun to watch while the music plays. And the wood case is a solid 50% of its awesomeness - great job fitting that to it. It "makes" it. How does it sound? (Not that it matters with looks like that! lol) Thanks for sharing :)

Eric.

I like your walnut case upgrade for the R2R. I found a RT-707 yesterday in nice condition. It has never been rack mounted and I would like to keep it that way. It sounds so sweet.

Thanks! The rig as a whole sounds absolutely fantastic. I can't get enough of it! Love listening to music there.

If you meant the Sansui EQ in particular, it's pretty transparent for that sort of an EQ, as long as used with a light touch.

Thanks! The RT-707 is indeed a really great sounding deck.

I really thought I had posted this here. This is the view of this system including the listening position.

They are both different, and both very enjoyable. I listen to the vintage rig more, but that's mostly because its hidden away in the man-cave, whereas the modern rig (being also a 6.1 home theater) is in the family room, which gets a lot of use by people other than me ;)

Love it man. That Pioneer scope is bitchin! How much did it cost you? And what's up with that pillow on the love seat? Look's like it's got some gear on it.

Those are the best looking HPM100 stands I have ever seen. I think Bart Locanthi designed them himself.
