I've owned both in the past. The QD33 was my main TT for a number of years, and I found it a really nice performer for what it is. But the 1500 is in another league. The price seems very fair - go for it, you'll love it :yes: Do you know if the 1500 is a MKI or MKII??
My first foray back into LPs required a turntable . . . found a $50 SL-1500 . . . DeOxit, made a ground cable, made low impedance RCA cables, cleaned it . .

Bought numerous other "better" turntables and use them, but my SL-1500 is my daily workhouse.
If it is all working at $100, a solid deal.

How patient can you be? Bide your time and you may come across another deal like the 1500 you missed out on.

Whatever you are considering should be better than this:
quartz direct drive
Wow and flutter: 0.024% wrms
I can be patient can you give any good idea on some TT to look keep an eye out for that would be good in that price range

He just came back to the turntable forum a few days ago.
He had been busy with house renovation and his shop (audio, turntable).

yea i saw that a few days ago but that si kinda out of my price range especially considering id have to buy a cartridge along with it

If you can stretch your budget, that 1200 is worth it. You can get a decent cart for about $60 to start, then look at upgrading that long term. If you can get the table down to $250 (mention no cart, and any other imperfections) and try for that. If it's been used for DJing, you can bring up potential wear to the motor, etc. Just because the ask is too high doesn't mean you can't get it lower.
Yes I tried to talk him down but he was firm on his price and I found out it doesn't come with a dust cover or platter mat.

Some idiot will buy at that price. You are not that person. In situations like that, I throw out a "Well, if you don't get any interest, keep me in mind."
I'd pass on it in that case.

I honestly think the Dual is a better bet. Those duals used a particularly good arm (especially good at tracking warped records), and were a very quiet & reliable table... plus, it's supposedly been professionally gone through, so it's a fully functional automatic & can be auditioned before purchase.
I do think either would be a step up from your SL-qd33, if only because you'd no longer be forced to use P mount cartridges, but the Dual is quartz locked belt drive, which I prefer to inexpensive DDs, and IMO the Dual's arm is much better than most under $500 tables you're likely to come across.
