Good stuff there, John! The SL-1700 is one of my favorite turntables...I've got 3 of them along with 2 SL-1710 (black European version) and an SL-1600 (full auto version). There's nothing I don't like about this turntable (although I do wish they offered them in a wooden plinth or made black the standard color, not too crazy about silver). I really like working on them and restoring them to their original condition. Love the floating chassis, the auto-return, the neutral speed position (great for working with the tonearm without the platter spinning), the build quality - just love the whole thing.
It's really nice to be able to swap out cartridges quickly too. I used to have a couple of Thorens TD-125 mkII tables and it was a real PITA to install and align cartridges on them, and forget swapping one out. Now I've got a stable of carts all pre-aligned, installed in headshells and ready to swap out.
You did a nice job with that one, and I really like your tune selection too! :thmbsp:
