I plugged it in and used Variac to power. Platter turns!!! Great! Cueing works too! Just drops fast.

Auto shut down, a little shakey.

Thanks,

Speed control needs a little lube..

That is the most corroded platter i have seen out of 2 dozen used MK2 tables. Is it worth putting your time and effort into this particular example? Even the tonearm looks rough. I would just keep it around as a parts machine.

That one looked like a goner too.. Sounds great now.

I did not even notice the Pioneer Headshell... it's lift is broken off, has a wire missing too. Was going to use another one anyway.

I opened it up a bit...Yuck...

It is basically the same, the SL-1500 was fully Manual. This one has auto-return.

Still cleaning... by jleon92f, on Flickr

Cleaning the parts , still...
I may try and mask off the decal areas and paint it the same color, then apply some clear.

Thanks,
John.:music::D

John one thing you might think of doing is change the audio cables, A friend of mine bought one of those new back in the day and had lots of problems with the cables till he changed them..... Those are so simplistic in design but run and sound great........

When I had My SL-1500, I had to change the cables. It sounded So Much Better! I think the thread is still here.
