Solid State toilet paper?

EVERY SINGLE SQUARE OF TOLIET PAPER MADE IN THE USA is the very last thing in the wood fibers chain that its used for. First the fiber is used in high grade Bond type paper then it works its way down the chain to junk mail, newsprint, etc. the very last thing that is made from wood fiber is toliet paper and the reason is by that time the wood fibers are so short that the paper breaks down very fast in Sewer treatment plants.

SO buying toliet paper made from recycled paper and advertized as such is a freckin waste of money since the highest grade of Charmin or what ever is the same stuff.

This silly sustainable/Green marketing crap is getting a little to far.

Hemp cannot be legalized because it is illegal. Period.

Which sucks because it's literally the most "green" and useful bio-reasource that can be harvested on this planet. It's absolutely stupid that we are still living in the stone age on this one while places like China benefit from the insane amount of yield per acre it provides and applications it has in a multitude of industries. It is (per wiki) "one of the faster growing biomasses known".

I think the only thing that grows faster, is Kudzu!

As in most Asian households, the first thing that gets done to a toilet role here is that the center tube is extracted (crush the roll a bit in the hands, one way and then another, to fold/bend/crumble the tube, then pull it out one end). The paper roll is then put in a container --dispenser, actually-- with a hole in the top, and the end is pulled up through the hole. I'd be delighted to be able to buy rolls without a tube in the middle: it's a hassle sometimes to extract them!

But I'm under no illusion that this isn't just a manufacturer's attempt to reduce costs, with nothing intended to be "green" or good for the consumer, etc... at all. That's just "spin" put on a cost-saving exercise, like the signs on the escalators when they are tuned off in malls, etc... which claim they are turned off to help save the environment, when all they're really saving is bucks off their electricity bills!

Umm.. I'm not sure I understand. Why is the tube extracted and what does this have to do with Asian households? You lost me.

I was in a grocery store and heard two women discussing recycling. They were all for it but one said she didn't think recycled TP was a good idea.

I laughed so hard,I could hardly finish shopping.

Eminence CANIS MAJOR: 12 inch Hemp Cone

Actually, the only way hemp could not be legalized is if it were already legal. By definition, anything that is illegal can be legalized.

Recently, I read an article in the MetroTimes that described how, during World War II, hemp was temporarily legalized so that it could be used to fabricate the heavy ships' lines used by ships in the Navy.

I prefer tube toilet paper. When changing rolls, the soft clipping sound is more enjoyable.

In large portions of the world, toilet paper isn't just used in the toilet. In many places it is used the way kleenex, paper towels and paper napkins are used elsewhere. For example, it's not uncommon to find those containers of toilet paper (with the hole in the middle of the top/lid, the paper coming off/out from the center of the roll, where the cardboard tube was extracted before the roll was put in the container) on the tables in some restaurants. People have them in their homes, for wiping things (not just their rear-ends). You may see them in the kitchen, on an office desktop, even in a living room (At Casa Arkay, a toilet-paper roll in some kind of decorative container has been in each of those rooms, as well as the bedroom, for years!) Toilet paper is a general-use item, probably because it is easier and cheaper to just buy toilet paper than to buy separate types of paper for each use. Takes a little getting used to at first, for an American, but it really is quite practical. You can buy toilet-roll containers in virtually any place that sells household goods. It's MUCH harder to find a Kleenex-box cover! ...and they all have the hole in the center of the top; it's standard procedure to remove the cardboard tube and empty the roll from the inside.

Where you WON'T find this practice (aside from North America and a few other spots) is in the Middle East; Islam dictates that the left hand is used for wiping, and it is then washed from a little canister of water. That is why they never eat with the left hand, nor shake hands with it. If you travel in Islamic regions, be careful to never touch food or people with your left hand --they'll assume it's dirty, and they'll be offended by such actions!
