Sony PSX 60: question about catridge/stylus

Honestly, Rosco, it sounds pretty darn good. I don't usually get any IGD, and no hum, so that's good. I guess I wondered how the match fared, and what other options there are. Sure seems like a great table, tho I no longer trust the auto feature - it drops that 8mz like a rock.

Little tight to get to but correct grease will solve mine was frozen from decades no use once freed up was like anvil out 10th story window now beautiful
Was small pain though but already inside to re cap boards so went all the way with this one to keep

I tried with all my technical might, which is admittedly not much. I somehow fixed a ground hum, and figured that's all the luck I had. Would love to have this thing fully serviced.

Do not blame self not the easiest machine to work on very well packed all arm control eccentric
Boards not too bad except use terminal wraps little bit of aggravation there too

For the cueing you want silicone oil ... 300,000 or 500,000 cst. Sorry I can't recall which I used on mine. You can get it on eBay or Amazon for under $15 a bottle (enough for a lifetime of turntables!).

I actually have some, and successfully put it in the reservoir of my SL-1400mk2 Technics. That thing drops at a snails pace, works great.

Couldn't figure out how to fill the reservoir for the Sony. Thanks, JimmyEJames for the tips.

Thanks, I kinda wondered about that- would a heavy arm with this cartridge suppress the high frequencies? Its not bad after I made those other adjustments, I just feel it could be better so I was wondering about a different cartridge. Trouble is there is very little agreement among true vinyl fans about what's best- cause I guess tastes differ. . Have you heard the DL103 in the Sony- and how would you describe it? I'm looking for detail and natural clarity rather than strong bass or mids.

I run the Denon 103 on my Sony PS X-60. Also used one on the X-50 I had before the 60. IMO, the 103 is a match made in heaven for this Sony. It matches the arm perfectly. The sound is wonderful. Dead quiet background. Never fatiguing. I tried a Grado Sig 8, Shure M97, and an AT, can't remember the model, but the Denon beat all those at a modest price. Highly recommended.

How long does the stylus last, cause I guess after that you're looking at a rebuild?

Like I mention it is only $200 so wear out sell for $50 and just buy new! ; - )
How long stylus tip last depends on you and your records at least 1000 hours maybe more
