Sony STR-V7 worth collecting?

I see one for sale locally but the guy is a “collector” and did not specify the asking price and is open to any reasonable “no low-ball” offer. What should I offer?! Something that’s reasonable for me but not “low-ball” for him… Ebay prices for this receiver are way out of control

Oh yeah. That’s what I’m saying. These receivers have been selling for $2.7-3+K + shipping on eBay. I just can’t see (make) myself paying over $1K for a vintage receiver. I’m probably wrong given the recent spike in interest in vintage audio gear but I’d like to view it more as an investment and not so much as spending on my hobbies.

That is the one receiver that I would still purchase, but not for that price.

Yeah, with my current budget, I am relegated to the 40-60 watt receiver selection and even some of those are way outta my price range! However, it's not all bad...some receivers in that range are hidden gems with plenty of power when paired with the right, efficient set of speakers!

I have one of these along with the V5 and V4. I think they are a great. I love the looks of this line too.

Glad to see the Sony V7 is finally getting its due respect in valuations.... As good as KR-9600/CR-3020/SX-1250/9090DB or 2330... IMO

Got one myself! Only downsides for me is the Faux wood, no midrange control, and unable to separate pre from amp. Great receiver other than that.
