Sony Walkman WM-D6c, dragging

I have a Walkman wm-d6c that plays just fine when it is setting flat on a surface but when you tilt it or move it, it likes to drag. Anyone have experience with these things? Easy fix?

I have the same walkman, professional, very good. I had mine totally reconditioned by a local place here in Broomall PA, it was a reasonable price, and they did a very thorough job, to factory specs, and biasing. Ray

I have one of these, but haven't taken it out in quite a while. If memory serves, these are direct-drive capstans. I can't think of a cause for this. Might be one of those situations where a teardown is the only way to see what's wrong.

Check the tiny switch that applies power to the circuits when PLAY is engaged.
