Makes sense. That's how SD kept their prices down. Not much for fit and finish but the sound quality it fantastic. Judging by the picture I thought it might be real.

yeah, same with the Pioneer HPM 60ies, great sounding speaker but alas the vinyl veneer makes them look cheap, I veneered them.

Hello again! Does anyone have a 1" multilaminate dome tweeter I can buy? I'm picking up a set of R-515 towers. They've had the tweeters replaced, I have one tweeter I can use bit need a second.

I also still need capacitor info so I can recap all my SD's. The speakers I need caps for are:

R-616, R515, R65, R55, THC-2, and a THS-1000 sub.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey gang, a bit late to the party here, but I have a couple different pairs of Sound Dynamics speakers.

I've owned a pair of SDM Monitor One's since the late 90's, thanks to my uncle who gave them to me as a youngster. Unfortunately the original woofers got trashed somewhere along the line, which got replaced with some old Urban Audio Works 8" subs many years ago. It would be nice to find a better set of woofers to replace those.

I also have a very nice pair of Sound Dynamics 10S speakers that I bought from a local hifi buddy in 2019. They sound great and are used in my "daily driver" setup, which happens to be a Marantz 2230 receiver & Technics SL-1600 turntable.

Anyway, just figured I'd drop a line.. It's pretty tough finding info about some of these SD speakers online, as they seem to be somewhat uncommon - the Monitor One's in particular. Cheers!
