It's funny how there are different power ratings for several amps that have the same circuits. This one will do much more than the 100W per channel 8 ohm rating.

I'm loving it so far

I'd love to hear how you think your DH-220 compares to your new Soundcraftsmen. Be explicit with any similarities or differences. They should be very comparable mosfet power amps in many respects.

Very similar sound, but I give the edge to the Soundcraftsmen

I sold my big McIntosh amp and replaced it with a restored Soundcraftsmen MA5002. Maybe not as pretty, but it sounds every bit as good to my ears.

That's freaking awesome. I have 12 other amps and I must honestly say the one that comes closest to me in sound is my fully restored Son of Ampzilla

My personal unit is a DX4200, but I have several different models that are restored.

CX4100 has the CX record capability, and the DX4100 uses that switch spot for another loop I think... Otherwise they are the same preamp and EQ.

Ok. After careful consideration and listening, I have put my fully restored GAS Son back and I have to say, through the whole listening spectrum, remains my fave. Not to take anything away from the Soundcraftsmen, or any of my other amps. I'm sure the restore has something to do with it.

My favorite best bang for the buck out there. EQs are not really my thing, but I have a few.

Their eq's are dope, but I don't use any equalization and my tone controls always flat. This way I just hear the amp. I'm a stickler for that

Ok guys. So I just had to go inside and take a look around. Everything looks pretty much original. The filter caps are silver, so assuming they are also. I noticed 2 pieces of a ceramic cover which upon further investigation came off of a 5 watt resistor from one of the boards. I'm guessing from age. So my question is. Is it anything to be concerned about? The resistor it came off of looks fine, and the amp sounds perfect. Thanks

I've put the 2 pieces together with Crazy Glue and Will attempt to put it back over the resistor

Upon further investigation, it would be WAY too much of a pain to try to glue it back. It's in an almost impossible spot to get to. Looking carefully at the resistor, you can see some residue on it from the ceramic cover. It has to be due to age (42-44 yrs). I think I'll just leave it alone and use it. Any foreseeable issues? Thanks

You can buy a 5 ohm 5 watt resistor and replace it. That resistor is part of the zobel filter that filters out high frequency on the output.

Ok thanks. As I said, the resistor looks fine. Definitely not burnt. And the sound is 100 % so I'm going to leave it well enough alone. I believe the cover deteriated with time. Thanks for the reply
