I dont know if it is better than a Hafler DH-220

Here is a review of the amp, the pro reference is the same as the a2502
Is someone wants to review the schematics and compared to a Hafler DH-220

Update: Recap info with my BOM is added now, starting in posts #14. My unit is heavily modified, but the amp section follows original schematic so is applicable to a stock unit.

I'm presently in the research phase of recaping my 1984 A2801 power amp and I cannot believe how obscure this thing is on the web. I mean it is as if some powerful entity wanted to erase all traces of its existence. After looking and spending money on whole sets of Soundcraftsmen schematics I came up with zilch. So desperately one day I thought since the A2502 was similar in size and output it might teach me...

I picked up some damn nice Soundcraftsmen components this past weekend and have been googling around a bit on them. It seems they are fairly well regarded but since the company is defunct, there isn't anyone to contact for manuals, etc. I have 3 pieces....the T6002 tuner, the DX4200 preamp which is damn nice, and the A5002 Class H amplifier rated at 250wpc @ 8-ohm and 500 $ 4-ohm. I removed the Sansui AU-11000a integrated amp that was running the Klipschorns and put the Soundcraftsmen gear on them instead.

All I can say is....Oh My God what a HUGE difference in sound quality. I'm...

It came today. Absolutely love it. It must be in great condition. Very quiet. Not even a faint hum. And no turn on or turn off wump which you can have with amps of it's age. Very happy

Are these mosfet types with the PCR circuit (phase control regulation) with the regulated power supply like the PM860 and PCR800? If so, I think they all sound quite similar to one another (which is quite good). Hope you continue enjoying it, I think Soundcraftsmen is under-rated. I wanted to try and track down some newer (successor) MTX mosfet power amps for home use (not car audio), but those seem to be about as rare as hen's teeth.

I'd love to hear how you think your DH-220 compares to your new Soundcraftsmen. Be explicit with any similarities or differences. They should be very comparable mosfet power amps in many respects.

It's funny how there are different power ratings for several amps that have the same circuits. This one will do much more than the 100W per channel 8 ohm rating.
