Speaker id? Gooseswill thrift

Very reminiscent of 1970s small Altec’s, that might even be a 403a driver.
The sectioned cone and doped surround could surely point that way.

But, the cabinet is junk and not anything that would have left an Altec factory.

If those are 403's, they have been married into those cabinets.

What so someone broke Altec cabs and put the woofer in here with a mis matched paper tweeter ?
Who knows?

We can't see the components to verify what they may or may not be.

If the large cone is an Altec 403A, it's not a woofer per se`so much as it is an extended range speaker. A tweeter would be necessary for good hifi reproduction.

403's were widely used in distributed sound/paging systems in schools and hospitals. They were also used in a few small Altec home systems from the late 50's and early 60's.

403A is a decent little speaker, an economical alternative to a 755. But, they're nothing to stand in line for, and by no means a holy grail driver.

However, if they are Altec 403's a one dollar entry fee is kind of a nobrainer.
