It is either an Optimus Mach 3 or another Optimus model, maybe 6000 if my memory serves me. They made two way and three way versions of the Mach 3.

I don't know these particular speakers, but I can say that the better RS speakers can be of quite surprising quality.

allow me to beat this topic into submission, if you would... ;-)

Heck, who knows... they're probably plenty sensitive and might out-do a pair of Heresys in terms of listen-ability driven by, e.g., a single-ended 2A3 amp?

Looks like an Optimus 990 from looking in the 1994 catalog.

This. They are not very good at all.

I'm not snobbing, I agree with Sam that RS made some surprisingly good speakers. I love my Nova 8s. But trust me, there are not one of their better offerings.

Apologies RS Steve.

Good to know. :thmbsp:

Thanks RS, I think you are correct. I don't think I will bother.

Yeah, but he's only asking fifty bucks. You could probably talk him down another ten or fifteen, and have some fun speakers to modify and tweak. If your mods don't improve the sound, they'd still be fine garage speakers!

No, really. They just aren't any good. No tweaking will make them any good. I find better stuff twice a week for $5 a pair. Seriously.

Have you heard them?

You could pull the baffle off the front and set your L710s in them. That might make them sound good.
