How tall should speaker stands be that are holding 22"Hx11"Wx9"D bookshelf speakers of about 35 lbs.?

As a general rule, the stands should be of a height that places the tweeters at ear level for you in your preferred listening chair.

These are the stands I built with a 6 degree tilt instead of getting the speaker way high off the ground, and possibly getting knocked over at some point. They really work well at getting the sound aimed at your sitting level, plus the bass seems better with them closer to the floor.

I don't have them at home, they are at the wood shop. Pretty basic to figure out though, and your speaker size will determine final dimensions.
