Speakers you will NEVER sell.

I've never sold any speakers....and now have 27 pair around the house. Favorites through are: ALTEC A-7, EV cornerhorns, JBL 4312a, Allison 5, Boston A-4, Altec 816 low/mid cabs, several Altec 511B horns with various (908/730B) drivers, straight Altec 288 drivers, JBL PRO III, several Minimus 7s, Ditton 15s, and a few hand made creations. Wish I'd never given away my first pair of real speakers from 1980 - Cerwin Vega HED-123....they were awesome for the time, and I'd bet they'd still be same now.

pair of Norman Lab 335's i got for 30 dollars in a thrift shop....the person who donated them must have been drunk or totally audio challenged, even more than I am...i had never heard of norman labs but saw the 10 inch woofers in great shape and oak finish and that was it...went home, did some research and realized what a deal i got...never had speakers as good, may have better some day but for now i enjoy listening to every instrument clear and crisp...and recall how little i paid for them....

I once had a pair of KLH's that could compete with any empty shoeboxes.
I gave them away. I felt charging money would be like stealing.

My trusty, old pair of cheap 90's Sony SS-SRX7s. 4" woof and 1" dome. I love their sound, and they've gotten to jump in for at least five different systems when down for service, at least two of those not leaving when the service was finished.

Never sell my Klipsch RB-75's, unless someone buys them for more than I payed! Have to be hurting for cash, though.

Never is a word that sometime we have to eat, but my AR9LS's would go away only in dire circumstances, and with much sobbing and crying......

Nobody was home this afternoon, so I decided to REALLY crank them up.

Using a Concept 16.5 receiver, and a Panasonic DVD/CD player. Monster dual amp receiver, and a pretty decent CD player. The AR9LS's are 5 feet tall, and 130lbs each.

I attended a KMFDM concert a couple weeks ago, so I thought I would try and recreate the concert at home just for fun, and to try and relive the show.

The CD was WWIII Live.

At the concert, we sat dead center, about 20 rows back. An older, small (1500 seat) theater, with pretty good acoustics and sound system.

At home I sat right at the AR9LS's sweet spot, in a cushy chair, about 12 feet back.

You know how the bass at a concert makes every bone in your body vibrate? Well......I just did it at home. Just like the show. Loud. Clear. Visceral. The voices jumped into my lap. The guitars ripped it up.

The comparison was astounding. The speakers totally rocked the house, and I swear I had it just as loud as the live show was. The AR9LS's sound amazingly good at low volumes, but holy crap, they kick some serious ass when you put the watts to them and crank 'em up. The low frequencies on this CD will test a lot of systems. This system eats it like candy.

I can have a concert at home!!!! And the drinks aren't $8, and the seat is more comfortable!

Needless to say, I wouldn't part with them. I'd probably never find another mint pair.

p.s. My ears are ringing, just like after the concert. :)

I guess the speakers I would never sell would be my NHT V.O's (THink that's what thier called)I couln't get rid of them becuase my neighbor gave them to me and they were my first serious speakers.

I will never sell my almost mint condition Smaller Advents. Took several years
of looking to find a really nice set locally.

cant really play ... , I have sold speakers that I said I would NEVER sell so many times , and Every. Single. Time. I want them back as soon as they drive down the road. I do however have a pair of AR2's that I always end up playing for weeks at a time , several times a year . It's like that deal where you smell coffee between perfume samples .... and they are small enough to move around when the old lady finally runs me off.

Well.... as I live in a smaller type unit, 2way speakers feature highly on my list!
1. ALLISON cd-6
2. AR-4AX
3. AR-16
4. AR TSW-610
5. Avid 101
But I'm 50/50 on my Goodmans Mezzo SL...
Decisions decisions?????
I'm a big fan of Roy Allison! And I keep an open mind on other brand speakers, You never know you might get aural pleasure from the most unlikely of speakers!

Ken

I will never sell my Realistic MC-1200 pair. I really enjoy how they sound and on top of that I doubt they are even worth money in their condition.
