Speakers you will NEVER sell.

Hi all,

I too can not truly say "NEVER" but...the single (as in one) SPEAKER that I am least likely to sell is my recently acquired (and I am told extremely rare)
circa 1957'ish STEPHENS (Custom ?) E-3 TRU-SONIC Speaker. This Speaker is just (to my ears) too good to be true! It has a 15" (30 lb.) Woofer, a ten Cell Mid-range Horn and a eight Cell Tweet horn. The entire speaker weights about 175 lbs.
I will soon be adding a Custom made two watt mono SET Amp for use with the Stephens. Even with a little "two watt" Amp, the Stephens plays PLENTY loud and is SWEET sounding! I consider myself VERY VERY VERY lucky (and proud) to own such a rare and wonderful Speaker!

Regards,
SixCats!

The way I am....I find something and it's the greatest thing and will never sell it, then something better comes along and I sell the first.

Repeat.

Repeat.

Lol you get it :smoke:

Who wants to buy 'em?

None ...

Ever ...

For Any Reason-

not even the funky bose driver, that was in the trash -

i cant think of any reason to ever sell my set of double advents in my HT setup. the sound is great, they look great, they are one-of-a-kind (ok, two), and besides, my original advents from 1977 are inside them! plus some ebay parts...

i might sell my other pair of original large advents in walnut, but i doubt it.

maybe my advent/1s. nothing to write home about.

not my smaller advents in somebody elses boxes though. they sound way too good for speakers that size.

The only way I'd sell my Klipsch would be on an upgrade:thmbsp:

That's not to say I wouldn't buy other brands IN ADDITION TO:yes:

I am intrigued.
Would you be kind enough to show pics please.
I gotta see this 175lbs speaker.
Thanks

A friend recently told me he has labeled each piece of his gear with the name of the friend that his wife is to call for dispersal of the gear if he dies. I call that real commitment. I hope he drives carefully. He's a nice guy, and plus I'd have to find a taker for his Klipschorns!

That's planning ahead! My wife says that if I go first, she is going to toss my Chartwell LS3/5as in the coffin with me. Seems like a waste, doesn't it :D

My 84 Cornwalls will be with me as long as i am around.I have had various stereo systems over the last 30 years and my Cornwalls combined with my Jolida JD102B and my Cambridge Audio Azur 540 CD player are without a doubt the best i have owned. The Cornwalls are basic in design but provide a sound reproduction that comes as close to live music as any system i have heard.

I generally keep around 25 pairs at a time. The ones I won't get rid of:

KLH 19 -Small and sweet

Janszen Z-600 -My uncle had these in college 40 years ago. I lusted after them for years. I finally got them when my cousin got back from college and my uncle didn't want them back.

Clements 107di -My college speakers. They still sound good. Too bad the company is no more. (I think)

Spendor BC-1 -I thought about getting rid of these, until I tried them with a 9090, and then a BGW Performance Series 3 that came out of a movie theater. They're keepers.

Pioneer HPM-100 -Good to rock out with

I'd like to think that my Dahlquist M-905's would always have a home with me. On a daily basis, no matter what type of music I throw their way...be it digital, analog, rock, reggae, classical, bluegrass, etc...their smoothness, imaging and clarity astound me every time I sit down to listen (or stand, or walk around). I can listen for hours and hours with these gems.

The only pair I absolutely would never sell is my little EPI 50's. T Freshly re-capped they sound amazingly fine when paired with the right amp, fit anywhere and have been with me for 34 years (my first system). On top of that they're hardly valuable enough to sell.

I also have my doubts I'd part with my NS-1000's, too good to give up. Everything else could be upgraded. I suppose I should weed out a bit some day!

On this very short list would be the zero9's. I think I'll be buried with them. Others, perhaps, as they come along.

I'd never sell my HPM-100's. They're in terrific condition and have been part of my life since 1981. They're big all right, but I'll always have room for them!

hey-Hey!!!,
I can't imagine selling my RCA MI-9584 compression drivers. They came with a lifetime guarantee...:) The bass bins and woofers could probably be improved upon, as well as the tweeters and the RCA's horn lens. Those drivers are just not going anywhere!
cheers,
Douglas

I cannot sell...

who's wife other than mine would accept these in their living room ?
