I have nothing, yet.
The only backstory I have is that the deceased designer had some expertise and this blurb: http://unlod.com/11111J/hughes-srs-labs-klayman-signature-series-flat-panel-speakers-srs-s33.
Fellow Ak'ers I can find no pictures of the internals, the sock isn't removable, except for an extremely vague description, I cannot find opinions on sound qualities.
The "HDC" high density cell material attached to an aluminum frame screams Bergtani and I even found a reference to Bergtani regarding the S33.

I could still go listen but like you I would want to know(see) exactly how they worked.
I doubt they'd outdo my Quads but you never know:scratch2: Naw.

Upon further investigative investigation, I found these same speakers were for sale two days ago just south of El Lay on the Orange County Craigslist in the form of a deleted listing.
Yesterdays new CL listing is for the S33s listed by an active local audio dealer.
Looks like he's trying for a quick dump as they might not seem to be what they are portrayed.

I just bought a pair and they sound great IMO. For now I've got them hooked up to a 40 watt/channel Optonica amp along with a pair of JBL lancer 55 (with the tweeter on low) to handle the low end. The SRS speakers are only rated down to 80hz so for most kinds of music you'll need something to handle frequencies below that point. They have two styrofoam panels one on top and one on the bottom and a dome tweeter in the middle. The pair I bought had one cracked panel so I had to take them apart and it was a nightmare. I believe the panel was damaged due to being driven at high volumes with the bass turned up/loudness on. If you have to take these apart you have take out the plate with the binding posts, unsolder the internal speaker wires that go up into the speaker, take the bolts out of the base, remove the base, remove the screws at the bottom that hold the piece of wood between the base and the side rails, once that piece of wood is off you can slide the front and rear grills out. Do not bend them at all or you will never get them back in. I used speaker surround glue for the repair because its stays somewhat flexible. It's not pretty but it sounds great. Before the repair it sounded almost like a woofer with bad foam at moderate volumes so listen for this if you are considering buying a pair and don't want to have to take them apart.
Never posted pics before hopefully this works. I wish I could describe the sound of these speakers better but the least I can say is I'm impressed by the separation of vocals like it sounds like the singer is in the room. Another thing that stood out for me is how natural the drums sound like the hit of a tom drum or snare. This is just my initial opinion of course and based on very limited listening as I've been super busy lately

I just saw this thread and I also want to mentioned that I have a pair of these speakers. I bought them couple of years ago and tested it for couple of hours as a surround speaker for my 5.1 set up. IMO they are great speakers for the price. However, after testing them for a few hours, I decided to put it back in their original boxes and have not use it ever since because I moved out from our old apartment and didn't have any space to place these huge speakers.
Now, I'm only running 3.1 in a small room and did not need these speakers anymore. I don't have pictures because they were sealed in their boxes forever. I would rate them to be 9.5 out of 10. I think if I get the chance this weekend, I will open the boxes and take some photos.:scratch2:

Trying to keep it simple.
I just bought a mint pair of these for $100 and I am really really impressed. They seem pretty neutral to me and kind of crisp but not in a bright way. I’ve got a WIIM Ultra lopping off the bass at 85 and passing it to the subwoofers. Running of a Hafler DH 200. In that setup I really like them.
