Very well built, decent tuner, sounds good, sometimes can be a bit boomy sounding. For mine it is in the loudness circuit, which kind of sticks on only one channel sometimes. Great deal you got, they're keepers. I've had issues with the wrapped wire connections and power button. The wrapped wire connections going bad and needing soldered, and the power button going bad.

Search ebay for a broken donor unit that you can local pickup. The lesser models like the STA-2000 are a lot cheaper and usually have the same knobs and LED's. There might be models below the STA-2000.
EDIT: I just had a glance at your photo. I think the indicators are bulbs so you won't need a donor unit. The knobs pop up on ebay from time to time so you will need to be patient and vigilant.

You might get knobs from another receiver. Mine did not have any, but I got some knobs from another receiver from an AK member. As for the LED's, there actually indicator lamps. There rated at 60ma, 6 volts.
As about the unit itself, it is a powerful receiver with an excellent tuner section. The amplifier is very loud for me just pushing five watts of power. A bit heavy on the bass side, especially when the loudness button is pushed in, but can be tamed with an equalizer and some very large speakers like the Realistic Mach One.

The STA-2100 is a very good receiver. Mine is driving my Dynaco A25's. I got lucky on the lamps and found them at my local Radio Shack which surprised me. The FM will only play in mono with the stereo lamp out. I had several issues with mine but worked through them all, one at a time. A quick search for the bulb spec here will help you track some down if you can't get them locally. The controls will definitely benefit from a good deoxit cleaning. Check the fuses on the power board. I had a bad one.
I asked a question about the occasional boominess that is sometimes brought up regarding this receiver. The consensus on the Realistic discussion forum is that it seems to be built into the preamp section. Depending on the type of music and speakers that you use, it may not even be noticed. I listen to a lot of acoustic folk, bluegrass, etc and I am very happy with my current setup. The bass and treble have a turnover button that can be used to limit the frequency range of the tone control. I used it to back off the lower bass before I found my Dynacos but have not used it since then. I seemed to have found a happy spot with my speaker type and placement and even when listening to Reggae, the bass does not sound boomy or loose. I am very happy with my STA-2100 and hope that you will be too.

The receiver will play any other source in stereo with the stereo indicator lamp out. It just plays FM in mono. The lamp is part of the FM stereo circuit so when it is out...so is FM stereo. I believe there are other receivers like this too.
You can use MM or MC cartridges but you may need to adjust the Phono 1 level switch on the back to try and set the input sensitivity level so playback matches the volume of your other inputs (FM, cd or whatever). There are 3 settings.
