Starting a build

I picked these up yesterday from battradio and I really dont know where to start SO Lets start with whats the most important thought to me right now- THANK YOU MARK!!!! These sound so good I cant get the smile off of my face, you did a fantastic job. They are everything I hoped they would be and then more. I appreciate all the patience as I asked the typical stupid questions Im known for and for all the great advise. Its the folks like you that make AK as great as it is. Thanks!!!!! Heres a few more pics of them set up. I can honestly say that this is one of the few times for me with audio gear, when everything just worked out perfectly. :thmbsp::thmbsp::thmbsp:

Hi Rob ,

Very glad that you like them and they live up your expectations .How do they sound on you on the Altec A7's Voice of the Theaters and is the back ground hum as low as i hoped on your larger speakers .

Mark

What hum?:D These are dead quiet. Thats the first thing both me and my wife noticed.:thmbsp: They sound pretty dang good to say the least on the altecs. Its the best these old altecs have ever sounded by far. Im gonna try them with the homebrews this afternoon which should be even better. I just didnt have the energy after spending all that time driving to unhook everything on the main system yesterday but Ill get to it today.

Have you had time to try them on your homebrrew speakers .Thats the type of noise floor i was aiming for .

Actually Mark I didnt get to it. I built a set of the M19 XOs to use with the home brews specifically for the day these amps came home, BUT i tried them with the A7s and havent looked back. The A7s were always a little shrill sounding with the stock XOs. The M19 crossovers added to the A7s, combined with these amps sound so friggin good I aint messin with it and am gonna leave things as they sit for a little bit. The other thing slowing me down is I am trying to pull off getting a MC2300 for the bottom end of my main Bi-amped system and I really am gonna need the homebrews in that set up because I dont want to be putting that much power into the A7s again. I tried that 6 months or so ago and between me experiementing, my granddaughter turning up the volume knob completely, then me turning it on and pumping 375 watts into the altecs with a flip of a switch, Well it resulted in them needing a recone, so Im a little hesitant to try that much power with the A7s again. I can say this though, these things sound so good its amazing, I have had a few other tube amps here(st70, H/K A500, Maggie and a few consoles) and nothing Ive ever owned compares. There is virtually no floor noise, no hum, no nothing at all. The highs are so smooth and the bass is so tight and pronounced that I wish I would have done this years ago. I wish you could hear these things, they really do sound great. The only downfall is that I spend so much time listening to them I aint getting any other projects finished. Once you turn it on, sit down and get comfortable, its hard to get up:D
